Okay
Fitness facility was listed as available....no mention of extra cost, either in reviews, or front desk. Upon arrival to fitness room, I'm told there is a $* fee for use, for my entire time at the hotel. Wonderful.

Okay
The location could not have been better--right on Park Ave and just blocks from the subway, Grand Central Station, and Central Park. The hotel is rather old and the rooms are a bit outdated and small especially for 3 adults. The staff were very...

I'm sure this hotel was great back in the day. But compared to the newer hotels, it's overrated and overpriced. The rooms were alright but come on, no hdtv, coffee maker or microwave. The Trump Hotel was way better. The Waldorf location is great, the atmosphere was very posh. I just expected a little more for the price.

I stayed with a travel companion in the waldorf last november, which saw plenty of rainfall, which for a brit wasn't unusual but did take the edge off the trip, especially as the climate control in the room was temporamental. otherwise the room service was very good, although expensive. the room had all the features required and pleanty of space in the mini-suite to spread out. the restaurants in the hotel did not cater for vegetarians though. otherwise the bars and all the service personnel were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to assist and oblige. personal assistant in the rest room a nice touch. excellent location in which to explore all of the major manhatten attractions, which were not too busy at that time of year, and the flights (1st class) with virgin atlantic were very reasonable at that time of year if booked in advance, as was the room. be careful with the mini-bar and tea/coffee making facilities as they soon mount up in cost. overall, a memorable trip, staying in a comfortable and classy hotel, which whilst not perfect, was well worth it and we had a great time in the big apple.

47 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We booked a one-bedroom suite with a king bed and an adjoining room with two double beds for my daughter's 16th birthday celebration. The two rooms combined cost more than $1100 for one night. The furnishings were shabby, a whole class panel mising from the bookcase in the sitting area, the armoire in our room propped up by pieces of lumber visibly below it, and a huge hole burned in the bedspread. In general, it looked nothing like what is shown on the hotel website. The air conditioning was noisy and weak and the rooms smelled musty. Room service was expensive and the food was barely warm. Twice the fire alarm went off accidently at 6 a.m. I suppose this is what $1000 gets you in New York City today, but I will never stay at this hotel again.

Mediocre
My family and I traveled to New York on pleasure we found it quite different. The room was shabby with beaten up furniture, peeling paint, and a musty smell. We were barked at by the maids as to when we were checking out, the valet took 45 minutes...

pros: Great location, beautiful room, excellent serviceI was apprehensive about staying at the Waldorf after reading the reviews on this site, especially since I got a very good rate for a Midtown hotel.
