Offering top class accommodation, The Standard Downtown LA Hotel is a great place to stay for a luxury break in Los Angeles as it is an absolutely beautiful hotel with a stunning rooftop terrace and bar for guests to enjoy. Located in the very heart of The City of Angels just a block and a half from 7th Street subway station, The Standard Downtown LA gives guests easy access to all this fabulous place has to offer. The friendly staff pride themselves on providing the highest quality service and to ensuring you have everything you need during your vacation in LA. Make the most of the hotel's huge mezzanine lobby where you can relax on the 125-foot fuchsia Omnibus sofa by Vladimir Kagan, play a game of billiards or admire the Calder-inspired art installation by Jenny Holzer. The lobby bar serves cocktails and a light menu, accompanied by music. If you're organising a meeting or event, just ask the receptionists to direct you to the event rooms and spaces that this great LA hotel can provide. Dinner is served in the hotel restaurant best described as a California brasserie serving a tantalising menu of New American cuisine. The colourful interior features yellow booths, perfect for a romantic dinner or you can dine on the outdoor patio by the flaming water fountain. Horrible
While downtown, I was looking for a place to have a decent breakfast so decided to stop into the Standard. It was a little after 11. I asked for the breakfast menu and the host informed me that breakfast was no longer being served. What are they...
pros: Shower, pillows, friendly valetEveryone who is an out-of-towner must come see this hotel! I've partied here before on the rooftop but had the awesome opportunity to stay here! I loved the rooftop and the view of downtown skycrapers! Can't beat ...

Good
This is the best hotel in LA. Unique styling, great service, free wi-fi, *excellent* breakfast in restaurant. The view from the rooftop bar is magnificent, although the crowd there is a little young. I've stayed twice and will again soon.
the standard is def. a fun LA weekend getaway -- i came here for a romantic weekend (random, but WAY cheaper than the bel air hotel or other more traditional choices) and we had a great time. the room is fun in a fancy-sleazy 70's kind of way,...
We got upgraded to a huge room upon check it and it had a great view of downtown. The hotel is a fun place to stay if you want to enjoy the rooftop bar (which gets packed on the weekends).

Unfortunately, The Standard doesn't set any new standards in the hotel industry. I was disappointed by the lack of amenities offered. They offer Kiss My Face products which can be purchased at any drug store. Didn't even offer standards such as lotions, cotton balls, etc. They only gave us 1 robe and we had to call front desk for another. No coffee maker. The beds are on a high platformed which can be easily tripped on in the middle of the night going to the restroom. There was no table to eat our breakfast when we ordered in. Plus they forgot to include the salad dressing. The decor gave us the "wow" factor initially but we got over it quick. All in all, definitely a huge let down. I suggest the Mondrian for a celebrity experience.
