40 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
What a beautiful place it was great to return after the major renovations. Upon arrival I was greeted with a delicious cup of mulled wine. The new rooms are very nice, but pricey. The location is fantastic. The food and various restaurants were delightful. I was seated for some coffee just before tea time and was about to read my paper when I was unceremoniously removed from the space and told I had to go someplace else so that they could prepare for tea. When I said would gladly stay for tea, I was told that I still had to move, since I was alone at that time and they wanted the table for others. As a guest in the hotel I was aghast at such behaviour -- and I must say my opinion immediately soured. And, to think that I am a gold card holder with Marriott! I think that the Westin has my name on it the next time I am in Dublin.
57 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
Originally built in the eighteen hundreds and located in the heart of the tourist attractions, I understand this hotel has just undergone some major renevations or the past two years, which, frankly, it needed. It was still nice when we stayed there, though pretty expensive. When we stayed there it had a gym with state-of-the-art equipment and a nice large pool so no complaints there. They also had a sauna, steam, and Jacuzzi, which we always enjoy and private massages. Our rooms look out over St. Steven's Greens and had cable TV, a mini-bar, Playstation, which was different, as hotels usually seem to have Nintendo, a private bathroom and other things like bathrobes.
They also had a couple of bars, the Shelbourne and the Horseshoe and a couple different restaurants that were nice, though expensive, one with international cuisine and the other was a bistro with New World cuisine. Don't know how much of this is has changed. I'm sure that with all the renovations they have done that the place is really going to be wonderful.
