The Seelbach Hilton Louisville Hotel

My wife and I visited this local hotel for our wedding anniversary. The Seelbach has a long standing good reputation and a four star rating, though it surely did not live up to expectations. The room was well appointed but extremely small and not as represented on their website. Also, we were on a restricted access floor which one would assume would afford extra privacy and quiet, but such was not the case. Upon retiring for the night, there was a disturbance in the hall(children and adults hollering and being very noisy. After having called the desk about same and the situation persisted for another half hour, we left the hotel and returned home. Bad Experience!

I have traveled all over the world. Usually in a better hotel when you ask for a quiet room that is what you get -- not at the Seelbach. We were unable to sleep for more than 90 minutes at a time. There were hotel personnel in the corridor with walkie talkies several times during the night. Around 7 AM there was the sound of carts going down the hall with clinking glassware. Also, 4 to 6 staff decided to have a loud meeting outside of our room about 7:15 or 7:30 AM. When we went down to the front desk to ask for a quiet room for the coming evening, the front desk couldn't be bothered (even though we were staying three more nights). I had to call a manager before anything started happening. This doesn't not deserve AAA 4 diamonds. I would never stay here again.

The staff could not have been nicer. I was there for a week on a business trip, so I took my wife and infant daughter with me. This is definitely not the best hotel to take an infant too, however the staff were very polite and accommodating. The bell captain, front desk staff and valets were quick to help with every need.

The lobby is beautiful, as are all the common areas.

Our room was a bit shabby, but we knew that before going as this is an older hotel (I just read that the hotel has been purchased and they are renovating all the rooms.) My main complaints would be the shabbiness of the room (but the room was still nice, and had beautiful furniture), the vending machines were always empty, and you could hear every word said in the halls while in the room.

I've stayed at the Seelbach 6 times now and can honestly say it is my hotel of choice! I love the history and ambiance of the hotel and the Oak Room restaurant has superior food.

You need to talk to the hotel personnel to get a bit of history and a few interesting ghost stories to truly enjoy the experience.

I loved the hotel. They do not make hotels like the Seelbach hotel anymore. The decorations were amazing. The beds were great! The workout room was very nice but not extravagant. I was saddened that there was not a pool or a spa.
