Excellent
22 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I've stayed in this hotel 3 times. The first, in 2004. I went with friends for some beach side fun. I wasn't that impressed. There was chipped paint & some of the toilets & showers looked dingy. The staff were uncommonly friendly though, & let me wa

Okay

The staff at The Savoy were really nice. George and Victor were excellent. The hotel room needs much update. The dressers and furniture is old and the carpet in the hallways is a little worn and the hallways smelled. The room was clean and neat just ...

Posh hotel, but south of the action – Posted Jun 01, 2007

This is a really nice all-suite hotel with nicely appointed rooms, great beach views and a really great pool scene with two pools, cabanas and great pool service. And it's a great deal at the $200/night that we paid.

The downside is the location. It's at the far end of Ocean Ave, so if you want to go out to the bars and club and restaurants, it's a 20 min walk (at least) or a cab ride. If the beach and amenities are more important to you, then I recommend this hotel.

At check in, I realized it is at the south end of Ocean Dr. and is a 10 block walk to where I wanted to be.

The room was nothing more than average and just the bathroom was updated. The beach was nice but it is really all the same in South Beach. The $13 resort fee includes 2 chairs and towels although the staff was rude and acted as if they own the beach and they were the boss. The pool was very nice but only 4 people were there when it was 85 and sunny, very odd.

Due to the fact it is not popular there is very little staff to help with anything. There is no restaurant, and concierge for recommendations or help. There was no pool bar and difficult to get a drink by the pool or beach. Only on the weekend did they have someone to get you a $10 drink from somewhere.

Sleeping was just OK as the pillows were old and felt like wood. The noises were apparent from outside, the rooms next door and hallway all night. I am a very sound sleeper and the noise was too much and the jack-hammering that began at 9 am in a nearby room was absurd. Construction is one thing but at 9:00 it rattled us up and out of bed. I would not recommend this to anyone due to the fact there are much better options for the same money, it is really overpriced in comparison.

From the minute I checked in I thought I made a mistake. The Savoy is located about 8 to 10 blocks from the high end places at the south part of Ocean Drive. The place was very slow on Thursday morning and just 4 people at the pool. On the beach...

My wife and I chose this Days Inn for a 5 night stay. We booked our room online ahead of time.

Upon arrival, we realized we got two queen beds instead of a king. They would not change our room, even with vacancies, because we pre-paid online.

Our room was generally not fresh feeling. The bathroom was run-down, and the kitchen area (that was chosen so we'd have a fridge) was so nasty we wouldn't go in. The clothes hanging rack fell off the wall when we hung things on it.

Apparently, a large lawn service crew or similar was staying at the hotel. They had multiple large trucks, most with trailers (big ones!) behind them with tree shredders and such. They parked sideways across multiple spots every day, leaving no nearby parking for others. They also left each morning around 6 am making tons of noise.

One night, there was a propane tanker delivering fuel to the hotel, outside our door, at 1am. It set a car alarm off when it came in and then made all kinds of racket.

We finally left after the fourth night. They would not refund our last night because we prepaid.

I just got off the phone with the Days Inn Customer Service line. They took our complaint, our contact info, and said the hotel manager has 7 days to call us back. They would do nothing in the way of vouchers, and when asked for a refund for the last night we did not use, they cited the "pre-paid" thing again and said no.

What a terrible experience we had. The Hilton Garden Inn around the corner looked much nicer.

Our room was called a suite, but it was incredibly tiny, smaller than a standard room in a regular hotel. We were very disappointed in the room and it was our engagement weekend. The pool was quite beautiful, though. We basically walked in our room and said that we would not be spending any time in the room because it was pretty awful. We would have even considered staying in town an extra night, but the room itself made up our minds for us.

I am not likely to return to the The Savoy Hotel - South Beach.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The bathroom was amazing. It was definitely renovated recently. The pool was nice, too and the beach area was very clean. The people at the front desk were willing to help us with all of our questions. The exercise room was less than expected. It was really hot and two of the machines did not work. The decor of the room we stayed in was not very appealing either. It looked like we were in a cabin in the country. That is not what I wanted in South Beach. There was a hole in the arm of one of the couches and one night it rained and our ceiling leaked.

I am somewhat likely to return to the The Savoy Hotel - South Beach.
I might recommend it to friends.

Horrible
51 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business

I was introduced to three rooms where the furniture was filthy and the rooms reeked of smoke. I was finally put in a fourth room that had new carpet and slip covers over the sofa. The place has good access to the beach. I requested a full checkout invoice, but found that my card had been charged twice, for more than the invoice received. The parking crew damaged my car, but didn't mention it. There are much better values for the money to be had in the area. The bell captain was the shining star of the stay. One pool was closed. The property was reportedly sold and will be turned into condos following the Super Bowl.
