It is difficult to articulate the level of importance encompassed in this particular evening since the culmination centered around a very elaborate engagement - the likes of which would not have taken shape had it not been for the tirelessly exceptional hospitality of the entire Ritz staff.
All my requests, from the amenities within the room, to the flowers, to the metro car sent to retrieve my fiancé, to dinner at the grill, to the special requests made of the hostess, to champagne toast brought forth to our room after the proposal - did nothing but exceed my expectations.
I could go on and on but simply put - I quite honestly felt like royalty. Our stay was absolutely fantastic and I just feel like for all the anxiety and fear inherent in an event of this magnitude - not even for one second did any of it come to fruition.
Initially I was torn between the Ritz and several local upscale hotels including the Hyatt (which I have stayed at on a few occasions) and I even was a little skeptical about the Ritz, given some reviews but from the minute I checked in, I just knew they weren't going to let me down.
The only real advantage at the Hyatt is the lounge area for drinks but honestly, if you book club level, you get the same atmosphere in the available club lounge plus a fantastic view of the Detroit skyline (The Ren Cen, Ambassador Bridge etc.).
As a world traveler - I would say short of having an oceanside view - this was the best hotel experience I have ever had and I simply cannot emphasize enough how impressed i was with the entire experience.
Just a fantastic hotel, with fantastic staff that we will recommend emphatically and take advantage of whenever the opportunity presents itself.
