Beautiful setting, amazing beach club. I love it. I live in Sarasota and stay here one weekend every year with friends for a spa weekend. We have so much fun, and then in the evening we sit on the balcony by the lobby and listen to the live music fr

We have stayed here several times. The beach house experience on Lido Key is excellent. The restaurant and bar at the beach house are great. We love the Sarasota/St Armand's Circle area. The guest rooms and Suites at the Hotel are very nice and the beds are comfortable. The only (slight) downside is that any food, including coffee and tea, ordered through room service is lukewarm when received. We will continue to stay here, but we know this is an issue! A microwave in each room would improve this problem and enhance the quality of our visits. I noticed during our stay this year, the hotel seemed to scrimp on shampoo, soap, razors, etc. in the room (compared to toiletries received in previous years).

1. Room service is incompetent--food comes up cold, uncooked, or you may even get the wrong order. Particularly alarming is raw chicken and raw eggs.
2. Valet service is incompetent: i own a new white xkr jaguar as do many people in fl--i ordered my car in advance by calling valet and provided the room number. It was evening--i drove off with someone ele's automobile--i turned right around and the valet argued with me--i then opened glove box and shoed them someone else's paper work.
3. Though they do not disclose it in advance and though my room with tax was well over $500/nt, they block your own broadband wifi with a firewall and charge $9.95/24 hrs to use their system--after arguing that i would not pay the additional $9.95 and after suggesting they either disclose it in adv or up room rates by a couple of bucks, staff relented and gave me a pass code. Problem, the system signal is weak and logs off every few minutes (the longest consistent time used was only 12 minutes 34 seconds without needing to relog on in a 3 hr period. The good news--they do maint on syst at 3:30 pm
the firewall goes down and for a short time you can use your own card! Byt, their system does not work--you pay for 24 hrs--but it does not even operate the full 24 hrs.
4. I asked the hotel mgr to contact me about my complaints in writing--he never did--worse, this hotel has a condo portion and i purchased a multi million dollar apt fo my mom--if i complain, they take it out on her.
5. The atm machine is hidden in a dark nook--bad enough--at about 11pm i went to use the machine--a small man dressed in black was curled in the corner and asked if i wanted to buy a dime bag! I ran (in high heels) to look for security, could not find a guy fast enough to catch the guy as there were several exits and i was afraid to block him myself. They did not call the police--when i wanted to call, they told me they would deny that they have an issue and it was a one time occurrence--i figured they would get my statement quashed, so did not bother.
6. Storage units avail to owners and guest leak like a sieve!
7. They claim no managers are on sight after 11pm--hard to believe!
8. I am on a club floor (extra $75-100--not positive--it is supposed to be open until 10pm--by 9:30-it is being cleaned up--how do they know night owls like me will not wander in to get a bedtime snack at 9:45--well within the posted hours.
8. The hotel advertises its proximity to srq beaches--with no traffic, it is a 13 minute ride to the beach and in traffic it may be 45 minutes--i understand little kids go beserk!
9. The dining room food is atrocious--i have a sophisticated palette and was a silent partner in a highly regarded michelin 4 star restaurant for 25 years (restaurant is still in bus--now in continuous op since 1973. I must know a little something).
10. Best thing-- the golf course --stunning fazio design--meticulous is about 18 minutes away --it is pristine and empty--on the glorious afternoon pre Thanksgiving day, at 3pm there were only 3 i=other people at the entire club other than staff which was overflowing and nice! A $27mil empty course--how will it remain in business. Hardly any player rounds/yr.
