Location. The Renaissance Resort at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. is adjacent to St. Johns County Convention Center. The property is one of the largest combination hotel and conference centers in the South. The hotel is eight miles from St. George Street and the Spanish Quarter. Castillo de San Marcos and the Fountain of Youth are within 10 miles. Hotel Features. The smoke-free resort features two championship golf courses, a health club and tennis courts. The Spa Laterra features the Garden Sanctuary with floating cabana treatment rooms and a relaxation area, a beauty salon and a boutique. An outdoor infinity pool and spa tub are on site. The resort's three restaurants offer 24-hour room service. Guestrooms. Guestrooms at are equipped with high-speed Internet access for a fee and cable television. My initial impression of the Rennissance World Golf Village was, wow! This hotel looks great and the drive in is rather impressive with the meticulous landscaping and tribute to the game of golf.
Unfortunatley the minute I checked in, the experience turned south. The attendant at the hotel was not very knowledgable about the property. In addition we had made some requests as were were celebrating a special occasion and none of them were fulfilled.
I asked the manager of the hotel about making some accomodations as we were staying for 4 nights, and he informed me that they would be unable to do so.
Two nights in to our stay, we dined at one of the resuarants on property. As the entree was served, my fiance found a dark hair on her plate.
With checkout we had more trouble. The wait time for our car which had been in valet for 4 days exceeded 30 minutes. One has to wonder sometimes.
I'm a frequent traveler for both business and pleasure and the experience was not typical of the quality that I'm used to with other Marriott properties.
