Amazing

We were pleasantly surprised this past summer to stay in this beautiful historic inn! The staff was gracious and our room was furnished exquisitely and certainly well planned out. Our dining experience was positive, although service was a little slow. We would definitely recommend this hotel to any of our friends. Parking is not very convenient.

Received a great room rate for a fall special. We were presently surprised with a room upgrade. But don't try to eat there without a reservation-even if you are their own guest. It was somewhat off-season during mid-week (after the summer crowd and before fall foliage)and the dining room was not even half full, but the young hostess (maybe it was her inexperience) and the desk attendant could not accomodate their own guests in the dining area. The day before we were told that reservations could be made but were not required. Since we were not sure of our scehdule the next day we did not make reservations. The next evening and over an hour before seating was to be closed for the evening, the hostess said she could not give us a table in either of their two restaurants. Quite a surprise when the main dining room (the part being used that night) had several openings. It wasn't as if we were unwilling to wait-they were just unwilling to serve their own guests. Obviously the inn did not have enough help. Both the hostess and desk attendant were quite rude by saying "that is what reservations are for" when we told them we never had a problem like this before. And by the way, we weren't the only ones turned away that night. There were other guests as well. I could understand if there was overcrowding in the restaurant and this was high season or late at night but it wasn't even 8:00. We ended up eating in the Lion's Den (a bar in the basement) but the menu is quite limited (although the food is good there). Quite a difference from the romantic evening we were hoping for on our anniversary. We won't be staying their again and definitely won't be eating their again. Next time we go back to the Stockbridge area, we will stay someplace else where guests are treated as guests. Rudeness is encountered many times in everyday life-we don't need it on vacation by people who are supposed to be providing a service in the travel industry. I hope the Fitzpatricks give their employees some training in manners and courtesy. I guess we should have ordered room service so we wouldn't have had to deal with these two individuals!

Pristine, classy and attentive to your needs, the Red Lion Inn is a beautiful, antique filled colossus. I have stayed here several times and have always been highly pleased. I dont know what some of the other reviewers are complaining about. It is a very old building and there are quirks. You should expect that when staying at an inn. I would recommend this inn to anyone.

Stay Away

There was old broken furniture on the porch. I had a blood stained carpet, a moldy gross room, and a non-functioning shower. This place was just God awful!
