After leaving their sister hotel the Standard due to mildew in the two of the rooms they offered us. We asked for a suite at The Raleigh. The room was large however the view of the street was disapointing for the $1300 a night price tag - $ 650 a night - off season...While we were getting ready to go out, my wife was in the bathroom and started screaming, then ran out. I went in and saw a 2" LONG WATERBUG - crawling around on the floor by the sink. The bug was conveniently killed by the a/c repair man who also happened to be in the room at he same time trying to shut off the air conditioner. He told us that he couldnt shut it off and that our thermostat didnt control it and that it was controlled by a panel in the room next to us, unfortunately for us it was occupied and he could not go in, until he finally did much later. BTW the television doesnt work, so they sent a guy up who couldnt get it to turn on, he left and came back 15 minutes later with 10 remote controls and finally left us one universal remote that worked.
Consequently we found another waterbug in the morning in the living room area...I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY BUGS IN ANY OTHER HOTELS THAT IVE STAYED AT EVER AND DEFINATELY DIDNT EXPECT TO SEE THEM AT THIS FINELY RATED ESTABLISHMENT...overall a terrible stay...oh yeah dont eat breakfast here either. They have a hard time making eggs that were all watery and they dont offer lowfat yogurt, my waiter looked at me, like I had 5 heads when I asked for this very common breakfast item.
