Excellent
The Waikiki Gateway is an excellent hotel and an excellent value. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The pool is beautiful and has a wonderful view of Waikiki Beach. A hospitality room is available for those with a late departing flight. ...
We stayed five nights. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. Our room had two lanai. The view was not spectacular (Waikiki and partial mountains) on the tenth floor. The staff were very polite and helpful.

Good
this was our first trip to hawaii, and I was a little scared about staying at a 2 star hotel, but was delighted once we arrived. the room had a kitchenette which saved money for us b/c we saved money by making sandwiches for lunch instead of always...
pros: it's Hawaiimaking our way back to waikiki gateway next week. will be our third time in 2 years there. enjoy it every time. it's not beachfront and the ocean view is only good for those with 20/20 x-ray vision. the "breakfast" works for people...
36 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
The lobby is cool and the location is great, but that's about it.....even at $69 per night, we felt ripped off. We stayed here one night and left the next morning. The rooms are dark and damp, and very old. There has been some remodeling, but it appears to be purely cosmetic. The beds are honestly by far the worst I have ever experienced. Even my 6 and 8 year old kids said they could not sleep, and they can sleep anywhere. The "complimentary breakfast" consists of canned pineapple, some type of orange colored beverage, individually wrapped muffins from a vending machine, terrible coffee, and an employee who seems to hate her job. Overall, you are much, much better off paying a little more and finding another hotel. We stayed at the Doubletree for about the same price and loved it.
