My family and I could not have been more please with the Palmer House hotel. The location was central to the sights we wanted to see, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious and gracious, not cookie cutter. The hotel was also kid friendly.
The rooms were well supplied with toiletries, the sitting spaces were large and the rooms were located so that children could go back and forth without bothering other guests.
I am very likely
to return to the The Palmer House Hilton.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

I just love staying here at the Palmer House! The decor is absolutely beautiful! The hotel is located right in the center of downtown and there is so much to do inside of the hotel and in this vicinity. The views from the room are not great, but this hotel is right downtown amongst many skyscrapers. The rooms are lovely and elegant! This is just an elegant, classy and fabulous hotel! Great for families, children, business travelers and leisurely stays!
I stayed here twice for High School Model U.N. conventions. It is a beautiful hotel, especially in the main lobby, where you feel you either on the main deck of the Titanic, or in the Sistine Chapel with the beautiful roof.
That said, the Hotel is very idiosyncratic. I had friends at the hotel who stayed in a double that was barely larger than a closet, while I both times enjoyed a large quad with two bathrooms, which was quite comfortable for four teenage boys. The rooms were nice, but not luxurious. Very few cable channels, and as aforementioned, don't do room service or the mini bar. It will eat you alive! Ours was locked anyway, so we couldn't get at the liquor.
As far as amenities, the Hotel is also idiosyncratic. There is a pool, but it is tiny and tucked away on a random floor. My friends and I found a pool table, but were told that we would have to pay $10.00 an hour??? Forget that! One nice thing are the small shops that are set up by the entrance, they are great for grabbing a halfway reasonable snack. The executive suite is really nice if you can afford that.
The ballrooms for our sessions are also really nice, and are beautiful and all different. They are always well stocked with water and a few snacks. Of course, this hotel's biggest draw is it's prime location. For the business traveler, this hotel is good. If you have little kids, or are a little kid, you might want to stay away.

It is a beautiful old hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago. The room was very nice and the staff was, for the most part, courteous. There was a large event going on at the hotel while we stayed there, so often one or more of the entrances were closed. This was a minor inconvenience.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the The Palmer House Hilton.
I might recommend it to friends.

The location was perfect. We had reservations for four or five rooms since May. Each time one of us checked in they had difficulty finding the reservations. All of the rooms were to have two beds and two baths with the exception of one of the executive rooms; however they booked one of the regular rooms as one bath as well. Check in was a mess. They brought one of the luggage to the wrong room. In the room I stayed in, the towel rack in the tub area was partially hanging off the wall and it was loose. At one point a lot of the guests were upset during one of the events in the lobby when they locked all of the restrooms doors off of the mezzanine while the event was still going on. This forced people to wait in the exceedingly slow elevator waits to go to their room to use the toilet and wait again to come back downstairs. Overall, the room I had was a very good size but the room two of my coworkers were in was small as a closet. They were also the ones who were stuck sharing a bathroom when they were supposed to have two.
The furniture was comfortable. Those pillows were pure heaven.
I am very likely
to return to the The Palmer House Hilton.
I might recommend it to friends.

The hotel was excellent. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly. The only thing that would have made the stay more enjoyable would have been to have had a ceiling fan in the room.
The staff was very gracious and courteous. The concierge was very helpful. The doorman arranged for us to take a private car to the airport for the same rate as a taxi.
I am very likely
to return to the The Palmer House Hilton.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
