This hotel is 135 yrs old and it definitely shows. The rooms are drafty and very cold, the heating system dates from the stone age and even with the thermostat set all the way to maximum, it barely warms the room.
I had a corner room, a little larger than more, with a good view, I could feel the cold air coming through the edges of the windows. The beds are very comfortable. The water system is fine, it heats up quickly. The TV system is average, choice of channels maybe slightly better than average. The staff is helpful, courteous. When it is windy outside the entrances are like fighting a hurricane. The lobby decoration is outstanding but that's not a reason to think of this as a four star hotel. I'd give it a three. There's no mini bar (there's a note on the piece of furniture that had it telling you to go to the bar downstairs!), the coffee machine was terrible the first day but apparently I caught them in the middle of an upgrade and the new one I got during the stay is excellent.
The $9.95 daily charge for internet in the room is completely absurd. There is little or no reason for a hotel to do that these days, and frankly, this is the one straw that broke the camel's back and this is why I won't stay here again if I can avoid it.
