I just returned from a three night midweek stay at The Orleans.
The Hotel: Very nice rooms (for the price). Good security. Excellent service on checkin/checkout. Great maid service. Excellent liquor store with great prices. Business center lets you print boarding passes for your (Southwest) flight for $1. Pool was nice looking, but outside temperature was too cold to go for a swim.
The Casino: Due to the midweek visit, it wasn't that crowded in the day, but got busy at night. They have low limits $5 BJ/Craps and $1 roullette. They have a ton of video poker, but I couldn't locate any full pay jacks or better machines, but they have all the deuces wild, bonus, double bonus, etc. that someone could want. They also had a ton of $.05/$.10/$.25 machines as well as the $.25/$.50/$1 machines. I am not a slot player, so I don't have much to offer there. The cocktail waitresses were attentive and were always coming around - even through "cheaptown" ($.05/$.01 area).
The Food: I ate at the buffet for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was good with an omelette station. Dinner was "par for the course". Nothing special, but much variety and decent food. Noticed that they had graveyard specials in their cafe (something I love about Vegas), but never ate them due to still being full from the buffet.
All in all, the Orleans was a great surprise for me. I expected decent, but found Excellent.
