Upon checking in, I noticed there was wood boarding up the fireplace in the lobby. This should have been my first indication to leave! The elevator to our room had graffitti all over it, and once we got to our floor it reeked of marijuana! The room had a hole in the wall that was painted over, water stains and black mold on the walls, the faucet of the tub was cracking off the wall, the soap dish was full of mildew, and there was more mold in the shower! The antique table and entertainment center were yellow, with cigarette burns on them and chipped pieces! The remote didn't work and we could not manually turn on TV. There was no mngr available, so I called Hotels.com, that's who we booked through. Was told it would be up to the mngr whether or not we got the money back! Eventually we did, most likely b/c I left a note in the Orlando Grand room that stated I took pictures of EVERYTHING and planned on reporting it!
We were there for 10 minutes of our 3-day stay and checked OUT! Luckily, we went down the block to Quality Inn and had a good time!

Awful place. Stayed two nights because I booked them on Expedia and had already paid for them. In the first room (Thurs) the toilet ran and the maid had left things from the previous occupant in the shower. One of the two beds slanted sideways. On the second night (Sun) we got there late, checked in and got ready for bed. Only then did we realize there were no towels in the room. A call to the front desk resulted in being told that we could come and get a key to another room that probaby had towels and that we could take them and use those. WHAT A JOKE!!! STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

We went to Orlando for a Wedding in August 2007.
I checked our family in and when we got to our room the carpet was dirty, the refrigerator was rusted and the bathtub was green. I talked to the front desk manager and he gave us a new room. This room was a little better, not much. The carpet was dirty, we had no stopper in the bathtub, one light bulb in the bathroom and no cover on the light. Only 3 out of 5 light bulbs worked over the sink. There was some nasty stuff on the mattress, looked like blood or vomit. There was mouse poop in the drawer. Our iron did not work, either. The lights took several days to get fixed.
We would not ever go back to the Orlando Grand Hotel. All of this and we still had to pay a resort fee. We did have reservation else where but canceled them, because someone from HotelCorp.com told us it was a great place to stay.
I do think that someone must be getting something out of reservations made through them.

My friends and I spend the weekend in Orlando to see the Universal Studios. The hotel that we stayed in was the Orlando Grand Hotel & Suites on 7400 International Drive. The experience was horrible. After we spend the first night in the hotel, two of us started scratching themselves on the next day while we were at the park. We did not know exactly what that came from but it became worse and worse and the skin irritations were awful.
When we got back to the hotel we realized that the beds were entirely covered with some kind of bugs. They were all over the beds, we just had to lift up the sheets. We had all never seen something like that.
We immediately left the room and complained. The manager was unavailable and did not return to the hotel until 7 a.m. in the morning. Not only did he refuse to pay us our money back, he also called the Sheriff and had us leave the property. We spend our Sunday in Orlando in a walk-in clinic to had our friends taken care of.
At the moment, we are filing a complaint with the county's health department and are in close contact with a lawyer.
I hope this comment can prevent future hotel guests from experiencing something like that. Book a different hotel!

checked in at 4:15 pm, (check in is after 4pm), room was still being cleaned as we arrived. still needed bedding on beds. I had to ask for more than 2 towels that was given for 2 guests. carpet was dirty, HUGE stains on it. the chairs were broken and unsafe to sit in. the box springs were torn down the seem, nothing to hide that, the pillows where old and flat. our phone didn't work correctly and the toilet didn't flush unless u held the handle down for a few minutes. we called and mentioned these things to the desk. they sent someone to our room to fix them. he said the diagram on the phone didn't reflect the correct codes for the buttone (1 touch dilaing for wake up calls, volume control, etc), but if we called the desk by using the zero key, we would be ok. the toilet needed a part. when he returned, the "part" was the wrong one for our toilet. he said we could use it and he "May be back that night to fix it or in the am". we waited until 930 pm for him to return, which didn't happen. instead, another man arrived in the hotel uniform and attempted to walk in our room. when i answered the door, he was asking if the other man wearing this uniform was inside- "he said he would be here and i was to meet him". after shooing him away, no one ever came back to fix the toilet that night. of course it was 10pm by this time. it didn't get reported until we returned around 8pm that night, so that explains the late timing. when we left for the parks the next am, i stressed that it needed to be fixed by the time we got back later that day, and now it would not flush, so basically we had been without a working toilet all night. that was corrected as asked.
we were meeting with friends that were also checking into this hotel our 2nd night. when they checked in, they did have rooms across from us (that was the best part of our stay), but they did not have a working phone or cool a/c in 1 room. they did get 2 ajoining rooms so that helped cool things off. it was close to 11pm when they checked in with 3 small children so didn't want to move after being at the parks all day long. they said the shower was hot, but again towels were an issue and they had to share. a total of 4 towel sets for 8 people. their carpet was alot cleaner than mine!
laundry room is a joke too! tried to do our laundry before our flight the next am. only a few washers out of 6-7 worked, luckily i had them. another person had been trying to get them to drain her washers for more than 30 minutes. she placed them in another washer and it had problems too. while i did my laundry, her old machines finally completed the cycle, but it was
1 1/2 hrs later when i was ready to leave. it was mentioned to the desk clerk too, she was told she's get her money back, but what if they had not drained?? she wasted alot of time that could have been spent at the parks as she had planned with her 3 kids.
our shower was hot, even with the tiny lizzard looking thing in the tub when we woke up that am. housekeeping was outside our door and she came in with long gloves and a towel to get rid of it. i'm told this was normal for the coastal states.
overall- i wanted to stay on International Drive, was on a budget, and should have looked further than this hotel. the pictures of this hotel only reflect the lobby area and not what most rooms really look like. i was told on our way to the airport to fly home that this used to be a ramada until recently when they seen the upkeep was not up to their standards.
some of the rooms we had to walk by daily to get to our "tower room" had rooms with drapes open displayed a very nice room or suite possibly a condo as they were also advertizing for them. most of the ground floor rooms were empty with black plastic trash bags over the windows as if hiding construction. the gift shop and game room were not as nice as emphasized either. that corridor was where the only elevators for the tower were and resembled a dark alley with a few lights on. pretty scarey during the day as well as at night!
the hotel does have 2 pools, both functioning when we first arrived. 1 was inside and the other outide. our last day the outside pool was closed all day. wondered why, but didn't ask.
over all, my son and I loved orlando and the parks were fantastic!! just stay someplace other than this hotel!! this motel was also recommended by a hotelcorp.com employee and highly recommeneded it. wonder what her kick back was!! i could have gotten a better rate and room staying at candlewood suites, hampton in and many others. morla of my story- stick with a name u can trust and read the reviews before u book it.
