30 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We had a reservation from Fri-Sun, but accidentally tried to check in on the Tuesday (mixed up the hotels). Not a word about any issues, but they did confirm the weekend reservation.
Upon check-in on Friday, we were told that there was water damage in some rooms, and they would be sending us to another, "comparable", hotel. Well, they sent us to a motel in an unsafe neighborhood. So we had to walk 5 blocks to get our complimentary breakfast, to use the fitness room, or internet. And there was not a word about compensating us - I find it hard to believe that the motel cost the same as this hotel.
I couldn't believe how unconcerned the staff was about us. Following the trip I called and spoke to the manager, and he had the gall to tell me that this water damage had cost him a huge amount of money already - as if that's our fault!!! I just couldn't believe the way we were treated, as if we were a nuisance and not paying guests!
