with a budget, traveling for leisure

We have stayed in the Milburn a number of times over the last 5 years. Every visit has been very good.

Free WiFi.

Refrigerator in the room and the 24-hour supermarket is just 70 meters away.

Free breakfast Mon-Fri.

Friendly (for NYC) staff.

55 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

After a long and tiring trip of more than 20 hrs, I was looking forward with my family to settle down quickly into the hotel for some comfort and relaxation. Regrettably, this was not the case and we were very disappointed with the facilities and services rendered. In general, the hotel is rather tleold and cranky and must say it really needs a complete revamp. I am not expecting 5-star services or facilities but it really leaves much to be desired. The kettle in the room for making hot water cannot function without a heating plate which was not provided for in the room. It has to be separately requested and what's more, it is not working after it was delivered. In the first place, why bother to put a kettle when you need a heating plate. It may be better off or wiser not to put a kettle in the room at all.

Secondly, on the second nite the aircon in the room is an old window unit which is not only noisy but producing warm rather than cool air. They promised to rectify it but it never happens. So how can you settle down to a good nite sleep in that condition.

Last but not least, to launder your clothings at the basement on your own is an experience one will never forget. I decided otherwise the moment I came out of the lift at the basement. The pathway is dark with loose hanging electrical wires all over. You are basically walking in a dungeon or cave rather than in a hotel.

In conclusion, I would not or ever recommend anyone to stay in this old dilapidated hotel, even if it is for free. You will feel miserable and bad memory will take some times to be erased from your mind. So pls do not have 2nd thoughts about it. Give it a miss !

The room was infested with cockroaches and the air conditioning didn't work.

I am not likely to return to the The Milburn Hotel.
I would not recommend it to friends.
