The Midwest Hotel Conference Center

We booked this hotel for a professional event and, unfortunately, were not able to visit the place before our guests arrived.

Based on the photos on the website and the "& Conference Center" portion of the title, we assumed that the hotel would meet certain standards of quality, but we ended up more than a little embarrassed and quite disappointed. Everything was dingy and in disrepair, and service was spotty. In an industry where details make all the difference, this hotel could use a lot of help.

We chose this hotel because of the price, and I guess you get what you pay for. But if you are planning a high-class event, I would strongly encourage you to book elsewhere.

The staff is friendly and responsive, but the buildings are old, drab, and not very well-maintained. Two lights in the room didn't work, the toilet was clogged, the broadband connection was down, and the TV remote was broken. Worse, the outlet where I plugged in my alarm clock conked out overnight, meaning I almost missed a meeting the next morning.

The beds really need to be replaced, the mattresses are old and misshapen. I'm not sure how this place retains a 2.5 star rating. I guess the restaurant and conference facilities are popular with locals. If you're staying in Columbus, look elsewhere. You can get a more pleasant experience at most of the cheaper chain hotels nearby.

The only problem was that it was super hot in the room. It was cool outside but very hot in the room and the hall outside the room. We talked to the desk and they had someone look at our heater unit, but it didn't make any difference it stayed hot and uncomfortable.

This hotel made me feel pampered: I got a suite, for some reason. I had just requested a normal room. I was happy with the situation, no complaints.
