I purchased the golf weekend package as a birthday gift for my boyfriend who is an avid golfer. The package price was approximately $2,500.00, which included the stay at the Lodge and two days of golfing for two people. My boyfriend was thrilled as Pebble Beach golf course is one of his favorites. We checked in on a Friday afternoon and we were off to a great start. The staff was truly accommodating and everyone knew it was his birthday in advance, everyone from the front desk to the bell boy wished him happy birthday. Very nice touch!
Our room was also very nice. It was a good size suite with a golf course view. The patio was small but had a relaxing view. And the fireplace was a must especially with the cold Carmel nights, not to mention very romantic.
Saturday morning, my boyfriend was off to meet his tee time at Spanish Bay (his first course for the weekend). He had a two player package so his best friend met him there and they enjoyed a wonderful day golfing. I on the other hand spoiled myself to a spa day. It's been remodeled recently and it was beautifully done. The entire place was beautiful. However, I'm a spa junking and because I had many spa experiences to compare it to...I couldn't give it top rating. I'd say good, but not fabulous. I've had much better massages and the spa staff were nice but a bit stuffy. I love it when a spa makes you feel like you are the only person there and this spa tried, but fell short of that perfect experience.
Dinner was wonderful! We had dinner Saturday night at Club 19 (won't use the roman numerals). It's their marquis restaurant and it was pricy but worth it. Service was excellent and the restaurant is small so it felt like a special night.
Sunday morning, my boyfriend was off for his golf day at Pebble Beach and because my patio overlooked the course, I was able to get some great pictures of him golfing. That was cool...
And room service was great. Very friendly staff! $15.00 is added upfront for gratuity, so all staff members are very conscientious about taking additional tips. They are very clear with you that it's not expected and you have to nearly force it into their hands. It was nice to not be expected to tip, but really, $15.00 is not nearly enough for the service that you get. So we were both happy to tip well.
Shopping was ok. The standard golf attire shops were all around. And as you would expect, high end jewelry stores, etc. Not somewhere you'd want to spend tons of money at as you could probably get a much better deal just 5 minutes away in downtown Carmel area. But still a good place to walk around and window shop.
Our last meal was at a nearby restaurant De Giovanni, a well known family style Italian restaurant. It was great. It was quaint and lovely.
All in all, I felt like it was money well spent. Great weekend, great memories.
Would I do this weekend again? Most definitely.
