We stayed for freshman orientation and specifically requested a non-smoking room due to asthma and allergies. We awoke at 11:30pm to the smell of smoke. Since our young son was sleeping we waited until morning to call. All night we had smoke coming through the ventilation system. It was so bad that we called management at 6:20am to complain. They moved us to a different wing and refused to give us any compensation. All they would offer was an upgrade for our next stay. I was sick for 3 days after and luckily did not have to be hospitalized. Management did not respond to our letter we sent after our stay. Food was bad at the restaurant.
We had smoke come through our ventilation system all night. All management would do was move us and offer an upgrade on a future stay. I have asthma and was sick for 3 day. There was no response to our letter. Food was terrible in the restaurant.

Stayed two nights, in town for a violin

Excellent
Stayed two nights, in town for a violin for my son. People were all friendly. Used pool (huge, warm, clean - with 9' deep end), room service (fast, friendly, hot, cheap, good quality and portion size), hot tub (just right temperature, clean). Room...
I'm usually not a big fan of Independent properties but this one was an exception. I ended up staying here when a lot of hotels in town were sold out and it was a wonder why this one wasn't as well. Its an older hotel but kept up very well, the lobby is beautiful and rooms are extremely clean. The only issue I had was my daughter wanting to go down to the gigantic pool every hour!
This hotel was so bad they actually ran out of food for 1/3 of our guests. They ended up serving them pizza and chicken wings at $50.00 per plate.
To make matters worse, they were not the least bit apologetic and did not offer compensation whatsoever. The musicians that our family friends ate on crates because they were called "the help".
They were expecting 300 guests and were paid up front weeks before the wedding. Still, valet was not available for luggage, even for the handicapped and elderly and guest were required to lug their luggage any which way they could. The staff was not the least apologetic and were even hostile when the request was pressed. I, the mother of the bride, was told the complimentary breakfast was transferable to room service. This was denied at check out and the desk manager sternly requested that I provide her with the name, title, physical description, date and time I was told this.
All of this for a $20.00 credit. This was after we paid them $50.00 a plate for $300.00 people! The air conditioning in the guest rooms was not operating properly and the temperature was 50 degrees. The children were wrapped in towels to stay warm during the night! This is not a sour grapes review. This actually happened! Of course restitution will be obtained either through corporate or legal channels. My daughter's wedding was joyful because of loving family and friends. Please, for your family's happiness do not consider this place for such a precious event.

Okay
We attended a wedding here, they ran out of food and the last 60 people ate chicken nuggets for dinner. The room temperature was too cold, the heat did not work. The children were up all night complaining about the temp.
