Horrible
39 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

This was a very bad hotel. Very run down. The pictures are Very deceiving. There is no excercise room, there is no indoor pool or spa, the outside pool is not what it looks like in the pictures. The beds were very small and almost seemed like roll away beds. I found hair in the sheets when I went to lay down and the sheets and towels had holes in them. The shower was more like a very small hurricane simulator with no cold water only HOT. I think the website should do some updating because although I was not expecting the Hilton when I arrived I was expecting at least what was in the pictures. It rained alot for us while we were there and the indoor pool or spa whatever they were calling it would have been nice in the weather but like I said it was locked up and filled with old boxes and basicaly being used for storage. The room where I am assuming the excersise equipment would have been was also being used for storage of junk. All in All the hotel is just VERY run down and doesnt seem to be maintained well. Dont be fooled by those pictures, trust me they have to be photoshopped.

Horrible
29 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We wanted to stay at the Shores Spa & Resort but due to some travelling complications & poor planning got into town late & most of the better places to stay with king sized beds were already booked.

We called to check this one out at about 2:30am because the woman who answered the phone was couteous & said a room with a beach view & king sized bed was available. When we got there we were met with what looked like a crack addicted couple & their empty baby stroller - not sure what their deal was & don't mean to be unsympathetic but it was off-putting.

On the way up to the room we noticed how dirty the place was & how much in need of new furnishings & paint job - all the doors on the rooms had peeling paint & had been gone over so the edges of the old paint was still visible, very sad looking.

The room itself was musty smelling, dingey looking & even though it was 3 am & we were exhausted from driving all the way from NYC the past 2 days, we decided we'd rather sleep in the car if necessary...on our way out a woman got off the elevator in her pajamas with a half eaten apple in her hand & we overheard her bring it to the front desk & complain that she found it in her bathroom!

We settled for a clean room with 2 double beds & got upgraded to a room with a king sized bed the following day at the Nautilus nearby.

We stayed at The Islander May 2008, it was the worst place I have ever been. First they tried to charge for the day before we arrived, and called me a liar, when I questioned it. The elevator didin't work right. They said it is broken all the time. The inside pool was down for maintenance. No mention of this, until after we checked in. The hot tub was down. They also said this was broken all the time. The dirt and lack of maintenance were bad enough, but combine that with rude incompetent help, and we had to check out after one day. They should either tear it down, or fix everything, and then fire the entire staff and management.

Mediocre
60 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Comfortable. Great beach. Nice Pool.. We went there after the hurricanes 2 years ago and it was in relatively good shape for all the damage done to the beach. It was relatively clean and comfortable. Had a kitchenette and bedroom. We spent most of the time outside of the room, but I did grab a nap or two on the bed. We were recently back in Daytona Beach Shores and noticed it had changed name. I was told that a case of Legionnaire's Disease broke out and it had to be shut down for a period of time and has reopened under the name The Islander .

I am not likely to return to the The Islander Resort.
I would not recommend it to friends.

Good

We use this same hotel every time we go on vacation in Florida. They offer great rates and they have a wonderful seaside view. They also have a great outside environment with a bar and a nice pool.

They had a nice little band and also a hot tub and a pool which were not very crowded.

I am very likely to return to the The Islander Resort.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
