The Hotel of South Beach

I reserve a double bed room for three nights, when I got to the room we only had one bed, I went back down to let the front desk know and he assure me he would get me another room the next day, okay, but then the next day the sink was leaking and the tv was broke we asked for a tv at 9am and we never had no one to fix the tv. When we came back no one never came to address the issues. I went down to the front desk and spoke with the front desk clerk who lied and say he would call the manager or the manager would call him, neither actions took place, then he rant on and on to another clerk at their sister hotel in spanish. He was very rude. He did not try to assist me at all and we did not get the room until our last night there. I did read reviews but I had already paid for the room, please take heed to this review it's not fake!!!! Sometimes the own management gets on these sites and put there own reviews, please do not stay there. You would have to walk about 8 blocks to get to the main area. There is construction next to the hotel and across the street. Do not stay there!!!!!!! I left several messages on the managers phone and I have not received a call yet!

I had booked two beds and when my daughter and I arrived we were given a room with one bed until we persuaded the staff to help find a room with two beds. Evidently, the hotel has only eight rooms with two beds so we were told when we arrived and our request for two beds was clearly made when we booked our reservation. This room was around the corner from the elevator and you can hear the dinging which is very noisy. Under normal circumstances, I would never have accepted this room as we were there for three days. The problem was made worse by adult guests talking on their cell phones and standing in the halls speaking loudly while waiting for the elevator or running and standing in the halls after one a.m. in the morning. The rooms are quite small for the price. The location is terrific. The staff is absolutely the best. They were wonderful about understanding our reservation problems. More importantly, their help in locating restaurants and or making reservations are top notch! When you walk in to the hotel, you feel like family, really. The staff aims to please.

This hotel made me feel welcome: When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted like someone who was expected. My daughter had told them I would be arriving shortly but the staff certainly was looking for me and were so cordial that anyone would just know they were safe and could leave any message with the staff and be assured that it would delivered promptly! The staff are really fun to speak with and they obviously enjoy guests who seek their opinion and your comfort level is a top priority!

This hotel used to be wonderful. They still have an amazing roof with a pool that is lovely, with a nice breeze, overlooking the ocean. However, they recently had a management change and the new manager is terrible, rude and has let the place go. The carpets have not been replaced since they opened (or at least from the stains it looks that way) and the service has gone downhill.

We were getting dressed when turndown service came so we asked them to come back later. When we left the hotel 15 minutes later we told the front desk that we turned away the turndown service but would still like it. When we returned from our dinner out, they had not turned down the bed. Who cares, except that meant we had no pillows. We called the front desk and they said since all of maids went home they could not provide us with a pillow.

It is such a shame because this hotel was so beautiful. My husband and I used to go once a year, after this last trip in 2006, we will not go again. If the management changes, maybe it will get better again.
