68 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
Very nice location, I could walk almost everywhere. The staff was helpful, my only criticism was that there was only one elevator in use (the other was used for service) and it was slow and small. In fact, I used the stairs, but people with a lot of luggage had to wait a long time to get up and down. It is nice to see that some of the older buildings are saved, just a little sad that so many of them have been removed with only parking lots in their stead.
I did not eat at the adjoining restaurant, but it seemed attractive and well-patronized.

This hotel is suddenly showing a lot of wear that was not evident a year ago. The quality of the previous renovations are now showing through; broken railings in the elevators and stairs, peeling wallpaper, peeling enamel on the re-coated bathtubs,...

The room key I was given wouldn't open the door and I had to go back down to the desk with my luggage - twice - the last time I went down they changed my room. The rooms were small but clean. The low point was the bathtub/shower - it wouldnt drain...

Horrible
The bathroom/room was smaller then most closets. This was a horrible experience. The hotel was not in any way worth the money and no one was willing to take responsibility for the service or room.

I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is lovely and the staff very friendly and competent. I needed to move to a handicapped room and they bent over backward to make it happen. The maid even helped me move my suitcases and other items very quickly....

Hotel Lawrence is strategically located nearest to the bus stop, dining (although just 3-4 blocks away, but I enjoyed walking there), and those JFK enthusiast coz this hotel is just two blocks opposite the spot.
