Location. The Hotel George, a modernist boutique property located in Washington, D. C. is located one block from Union Station, three blocks from the Capitol, and four blocks from the National Mall. The Smithsonian Castle stands seven blocks from this property. Hotel Features. A stainless-steel canopy reminiscent of a theater marquee marks the entrance to The Hotel George. The two-story lobby is a light-filled space with cherry-red area rugs, fossilized coral walls and pillars, and cobalt-blue curved couches. Louis Poulsen's artichoke chandelier suspends near the hotel entryway. Fresh flowers are displayed on a chrome-and-glass table. Two circular mirrors flank the entry to the Gallery, a two-story interior courtyard located just beyond the lobby. Presiding over the Gallery is George, a pop portrait of America's first president crafted by Andy Warhol protégé Steve Kaufman. The hotel's popular dining venue, Bistro Bis, prepares creative French-inspired dishes during breakfast, lunch and dinner hours. A complimentary, 24-hour fitness facility houses steam rooms, television-mounted cardiovascular equipment, weight-training machines, medicine balls and free weights. Yoga mats and yoga DVDs are available. Guestrooms. The eight-story Hotel George offers 139 guestrooms decorated with granite-topped desks, circular wall mirrors, leather chairs and ottomans. The hotel's signature portrait of George Washington hangs over each bed. Beds are dressed with 300-thread count Egyptian linens and pillowtop mattresses. Stereo/CD players include selections of nature sounds. Folding cherry-wood doors open to reveal flat-panel televisions, stocked minibars, and built-in drawers. Marble bathrooms are stocked with designer toiletries and feature curved granite countertops, magnifying mirrors, terry-cloth robes, telephones and television speakers. High-speed wired and wireless Internet access is complimentary. Expert Tip. Hotel George is getting a little threadbare. Bathroom tile is showing age and caulking is getting too thick. Bed linen doesn't feel fresh anymore. Hall corridors are tired with lots of scuff marks. Time for a redo...new colors, new upholstery. STILL the best see and be seen bar in town!

The atmosphere is very new age, with modern design. It is a great place to host business in there many different conference rooms. Although it is not the type of place you would normally want to bring the children or go out on a romantic getaway, if you enjoy the very modern style and perfect professionalism that comes with this hotel than i would definitely rocommend this hotel for your next trip to the DC area
