34 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I stayed in one of the hotel's new annexes, which is down the hill and isolated from the main branch. My room had a gas-powered fireplace, a kitchenette, and a comfy sitting area. It was recently done, so everything was lovely and in perfect condition. An added bonus: I could leave through a back gate and dash down to the water with in 3 minutes (though there was NO view to speak of from my ground-floor room).
Convenient to the hotel's pool, and a short walk up a little hill to the shopping/dining on La Jolla's main drag.
We made a reservation and received a confirmation number for one of their older rooms. They told us that they would put us on a waiting list for one of their newer rooms that they were adding on to the hotel. We called back a month later to see how...

Within walking distance from shopping, dining and beach.A little noisy at night, but not too bad. Very nice elegant hotel, staff very helpful, and the "turn down service" was a nice surprise when we got to the hotel at night. The room was a little...

The hotel is historic and has some great original pictures displayed. I loved the history of the hotel and community.Truly not enough time to enjoy all that the hotel and la Jolla have to offer. I also wasn't able to dine at their restaurant, nine...
This hotel is in the heart of La Jolla, on the main drag, Prospect St. Two blocks from the surf, short walks to food and shopping, location could not be better.
The hotel room was excellent. Bed was one of the softest and most...
Quaint hotel, but they run their dumpster/trash compactor right under your window at 1am and then again at 6am despite my calling the front desk and complaining. No offer to remedy or move the room. Food is excellant in high-end resturant.
The location was fabulous and The Grande Colonial was like a bed and breakfast but with the comforts of a hotel. Being a local of San Diego, I wanted to show my Bostonian fiance a bit of La Jolla and the Grande Colonial was just perfect for that....
Great location & place to stay!
