The Galt House Hotel and Suites

The location is very convenient to downtown. I have stayed here many times usually through discount web services like hotwire or priceline, but the room I get never really matches the rest of the hotel or the other ratings posted on the site. The room always has old furniture, not so comfortable beds at the back-end of the hotel. I chalk it up to either the discount/or the fact that I am a younger (20 somethings) guest...either way if not for the courteous serivce from the staff and location my experience would be rated poor.

We stayed at the Galt House while working at a conference in the Convention Center. The hotel is lovely and we really had no complaints. We were delighted by the service! When we stay in a hotel for multiple nights we usually try to identify the staff person who is service-oriented, and address any questions or requests to that person. At the Galt every single staff person we spoke to over the course of our 5 day-4 night stay was eager to help us in any way, generally going above and beyond our expectations.

The room was very nice, comfortable and clean. The housekeeping service was great! The food at the Magnolia Room was delicious, and the service was terrific. We didn't use any of the other hotel facilities since we were busy at the convention center.

Our only concern was the elevator service in the West Tower (Rivue). It was extremely slow. We used the stairs frequently, which would have been impossible if our room had been on a higher floor.

Overall, we loved the Galt House. I hope we can visit Louisville and stay there again some time when we have more time to enjoy the hotel and the city.

Our room was on the 5th floor facing the front of the hotel and the street.

Traffic noise could clearly be heard in the room. Most annoying were sirens heard during the night The room air conditioner was exceptionally loud, waking us every time it turned on.

We were with a tour group. Two couples were assigned to the same room. Several of us were given room key cards that didn't work. Some luggage was delivered to the wrong rooms. Elevators were quite slow.

The actual hotel was ok not as great for what you pay. The nice and clean, but small. But the problem lies in the parking. We arrive on Aug. 18, 2007 and checked in to our room and had to pay an additional fee for "Gaulthouse Parking" and late that nite we were made aware that our vehicle's rear window had been broken out and most of the contents was stolen! A police report was filed. This parking has no security camaras and one security officer patroling the grounds. The hotel claimed they did not own the parking but the city of louisville did and they were not responsible for the damage on our car, even though they were the one who told us where to park. Now we have to pay for the damage on our vehicle, since the city of louisville claim they are not liable either. So basically the Gaulthouse does not adequate parking.

I stayed here for 1 night. Got the hotel for $75. Staff was helpful. When I called front desk for more bar soap, my request was fulfilled very quickly. Parking was $9/night. Free wireless internet was nice. Clean room. Beds were not very comfortable.
