36 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for business
For a hotel that prides itself in service, WHERE IS THE SERVICE????
I was traveling for business and decided to stay here, a $16 cab ride away from grand central terminal, because i thought it would be a bit more bang for the buck than the more popular centrally located hotels in the city.I WAS SOOOOO WRONG! My room was TINY. I literally could touch all 4 walls from the bed. The room was very clean and tidy but the bathroom was very generic and SMALL. I had nowhere to lay out my suitcase except the bed. There were only towels enough for one small person in the room. (on a hot summer day i want at least 2) When I called to the desk for more, they sent up exactly ONE more towel.
Then i asked about a place for dinner, the night clerk sent me on a wild goose chase to find an open place and I ended up having a nice Italian meal a block away from the hotel NOT the one recommended by the clerk.
The bed was comfortable, but the sound of the window air conditioner was deafening.
The next day, I left the "tidy my room" sign on the door and left to have a very nice breakfast of pastries and coffee in the tiny closet they call the breakfast room. Then spent the entire day working to come back to find my room had not been made up!!! I was furious, (for over $300/ night you expect a tiny bit of service) the clerk at the night desk DID NOT APOLOGIZE, just told me that it was my fault because i left the sign to tidy the room on the door.
I left the wet smelly towels from the day before outside my door and while i was at dinner they brought more towels and left the stinking heap outside my door. The next morning i found my bill slipped under my door moist from the heaped wet towels STILL THERE!
If you want service, of any kind STAY AWAY FROM HERE!
