34 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I stayed at the Fairmont Turnberry for five days and four nights. We were trying to have a romantic getaway.
Instead, it was filled with noise and construction starting as early as 6:30 am. We were moved to another room, but that didn't matter, as it was just as loud. The hotel was built in recent years and obviously not built very sound (literally and figuratively) I could hear the man talking and blowing his nose, using the bathroom in the next room and we were in a suite that cost nearly 4 figures a night!
There was a door connecting to the next room like you'd see in a bad motel. We had one room and they called that a suite, not even a separate bedroom. At the prices we paid there should have been.
Loud bulldozers were out on the golf course, people complaining of noise in the hallways and lobbies most of the time. We had friends come to sit with us at the pool but after 10 minutes we all had to leave with the hammers drills and noise. Other guests and even workers at the hotel all agreed the hotel should not have reopened so soon.
Because of this experience I would not go back even if they finish the renovation (looks like they have years to go). Also, they lost my car (yes, lost it), they couldn't find it and tried to tell me that this other old car was mine with my name on it when it clearly was not. When they finally found my car, no apology was made. I will never set foot on this zero star motel again.
