We stay there about once a year and it's always nice. However, it was better when it was a Starwood property. I think the prices are a little too high now for what you get.

I stayed at the Orchid for business for a week and it was an incredible property to stay at in Hawaii. Like many of the nicer hotels in Hawaii, they greet you with fresh, beautiful leis and were very friendly.
Our rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom spacious. We had beautiful views. It was very relaxing. We had plenty of pool time and the pool staff were so accommodating with bringing us drinks and food. My favorite drink is the Kohala Sunset. It's just the tropical drink you'd imagine only to get in Hawaii. The water in the pool was sometimes a bit too warm, but it just was steps from the beach where you could go swimming and cool off.
The food was excellent. Even for being hotel food. I was impressed by the fresh fruit, and pastries. Everyone at the hotel were very friendly and made our stay that much better.
