The Equus' rooms look ok inside. If you decide to stay there, make sure to get the 2 bed instead of the king size bed room. The room with the king size bed had a dirty looking lanai and sliding doors that led to it. The glass is very thin, so you end up with a ridiculous amount of noise in your room, and a hotter room too since the ac escapes through the cracks. The double bed room was cooler, darker, and fresher (newer also). We stayed there several nights and the maid service only provided us with toiletries for the first night. We had to go personally downstairs every day and get the toiletries the rest of our stay. They only sort of made the bed. We never got clean cups or toilet paper. What you got on your arrival was all. The elevator was being worked on, so there was no elevator from 11 am to 5 pm. We had to go up several flights of stairs with our toddler. The pool was out of service too FYI, but we didn't care since we spent our time elsewhere. The furnishings in the king size bed room were scraped and worn out, but the 2 bed room had nicer furniture. The desk people were very nice and helpful. The continental breakfast is very basic, so don't expect anything grand. Fruit, a cold pastry and juice. Like most places in Waikiki, the hotel is close to everything. My suggestion is if you can, don't rent a car. Parking is ridiculously overpriced and limited. The three of us (we're not the fittest of people either...) walked and rode the bus and had a blast. You meet the locals and get some adventures. Lugging a toddler around wasn't bad, so if we can do it, you can do it. The beds were very comfortable. I wrote this as objectively as possible, and I did not exagerate. Promise! Have fun!!
