The Eldridge is Lawrence's most luxurious hotel. Located in the heart of the exciting downtown area, the hotel is surrounded by an abundance of unique shops, galleries and dining and entertainment venues. Built in 1926, the hotel is a member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America and is the latest of four hotels to occupy the site dating back to 1856. The 48 room, all suite property reopened in May of 2005 after undergoing a total restoration. The hotel features a full service restaurant and lounge, exquisite banquet space, room service and valet parking. Occupying the "most historic corner in Kansas", The Eldridge is truly the place where history and hospitality converge.

The eldridge is a great little hotel. It sits right in the middle of downtown Lawrence, and there is an abundance of shops and restaurants just steps away. The hotel itself is great too. The service is friendly and the rooms are large and tastefully decorated.
Even though this is very petty, the televisions in the room could use an upgrade to LCD technology. I also noticed that the carpeting in the room could use a professional steam cleaning in the least, or perhaps a complete replacement.
Other than the very minor observations, you can't beat staying at the Eldridge when in Lawrence, KS. If you haven't been to Lawrence before, you will be pleasantly surprised at what a nice place it is. KU's campus is also very nice.
My brother got married at Danforth Chapel on the KU campus and my wife and I stayed at the Eldridge. We were in room 204, which is a corner room that overlooks 7th and Mass Street. Both the room AND the views are great. The staff was very, very...
The Eldridge hotel is in Lawrence, KS which was the site of the Quantrils Raiders Massacre. The hotel itself is not as old as the raid, but it has burned down or other wise destroyed and rebuilt several times. It is said the room 506 on the top...

The Eldridge came highly recommended by family members in Kansas. We stayed there one night for our anniversary on the way to our granddaughter's birthday and enjoyed the convenience and atmosphere. We were charged $170 for a king size bedroom and then approx. 1 month later a charge appeared on our credit card statement for an additional $150 due to "damages to room" which later were clarified to be "mud all over the floor which required professional cleaning". We were never notified of this problem, just found the charge on our account and called the Eldridge for clarification. Ended up making 7 phone calls, talked to manager many times, and explained that when we left the room there was no mud on the floors. However, we couldn't prove it. The manager never actually said I was lying, but stated he needed to talk to head of housekeeping "who is off today". I guess when damage is reported a manager doesn't check out the room immediately which seems to be something one would do in my opinion. In another later phone call from me, I explained how very, very far our room was from the 4th floor elevator which appeared to make a little sense to him. If we had had mud on our shoes (which we didn't) it would have worn off by the time we came in the lobby, took the elevator to the 4th floor, and walked down two hallways to our room. It is very frustrating to be considered untruthful with no way to disprove it. After 5 days, the manager called to report that he didn't know exactly what had gone on in the room and considering my statement of how far the room was from the elevator, he would just refund the charge. I don't plan to stay there again unless I have someone from the front desk come to check my room before I check out.
My husband and I decided to get married at Danforth Capel on the KU Campus. And when looking for places for a reception we found the Eldridge. Our reception at this hotel and it was top notch. We were on a budget but it was still the best...
The Eldridge is the best hotel in Lawrence. It's old, historic and right in the middle of the downtown action. Well, you pay for location so it's also a bit overpriced. You also pay for the location in that it's in an area that can be ...
