The eldridge is a great little hotel. It sits right in the middle of downtown Lawrence, and there is an abundance of shops and restaurants just steps away. The hotel itself is great too. The service is friendly and the rooms are large and tastefu

Excellent

The Eldridge is a great place! With the newly remodeled rooms and the history of the building plus a great location, you cant beat the hotel. There are great shops located just steps from the front doors, Starbucks, Cold Stone, Free State Brewery,...

Great service and location – Posted Nov 11, 2008

Excellent

My brother got married at Danforth Chapel on the KU campus and my wife and I stayed at the Eldridge. We were in room 204, which is a corner room that overlooks 7th and Mass Street. Both the room AND the views are great. The staff was very, very...

Unfortunately, the Eldridge Hotel was the site of my wedding reception. In the brief span of nine months, I dealt with four different wedding coordinators because of in-house firings and abrupt resignations due to complete disorganization and...

This Hotel is Haunted – Posted Jun 21, 2008

Horrible

The Eldridge hotel is in Lawrence, KS which was the site of the Quantrils Raiders Massacre. The hotel itself is not as old as the raid, but it has burned down or other wise destroyed and rebuilt several times. It is said the room 506 on the top...

Frustration after our Eldridge stay – Posted Apr 15, 2008

Mediocre
60 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

The Eldridge came highly recommended by family members in Kansas. We stayed there one night for our anniversary on the way to our granddaughter's birthday and enjoyed the convenience and atmosphere. We were charged $170 for a king size bedroom and then approx. 1 month later a charge appeared on our credit card statement for an additional $150 due to "damages to room" which later were clarified to be "mud all over the floor which required professional cleaning". We were never notified of this problem, just found the charge on our account and called the Eldridge for clarification. Ended up making 7 phone calls, talked to manager many times, and explained that when we left the room there was no mud on the floors. However, we couldn't prove it. The manager never actually said I was lying, but stated he needed to talk to head of housekeeping "who is off today". I guess when damage is reported a manager doesn't check out the room immediately which seems to be something one would do in my opinion. In another later phone call from me, I explained how very, very far our room was from the 4th floor elevator which appeared to make a little sense to him. If we had had mud on our shoes (which we didn't) it would have worn off by the time we came in the lobby, took the elevator to the 4th floor, and walked down two hallways to our room. It is very frustrating to be considered untruthful with no way to disprove it. After 5 days, the manager called to report that he didn't know exactly what had gone on in the room and considering my statement of how far the room was from the elevator, he would just refund the charge. I don't plan to stay there again unless I have someone from the front desk come to check my room before I check out.

Okay
69 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

The Eldridge hotel was right downtown. It was comfortable and just the right size. I would stay there again.

They left us alone and still fixed things like a broken toilet seat.

I am somewhat likely to return to the The Eldridge Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Good

The Eldridge is the best hotel in Lawrence. It's old, historic and right in the middle of the downtown action. Well, you pay for location so it's also a bit overpriced. You also pay for the location in that it's in an area that can be ...
