For the money, it is the worst value around. You have to pay extra for wireless, workout facilities, business center printing, etc. each time you use the service! For $350/night I expect that stuff thrown in -- For god sake, Holiday Inn's have that stuff for free.

It is very pretty though and the rooms are nice. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

I agree with alot of the people here though when they say the building is old. They have done the best they can to hide it's age, but you can only do so much.

It's been a while since I have stayed here, but it will remain one of the most memorable places for me.

Situated at the northern end of Chicago's "Magnificent Mile" on Michigan Avenue, it is close to all things wonderful. It's ambiance and the gentile staff add to the joy of a stay. The only thing I really "miss", lost to technology, is the wonderful, white gloved, caring elevator ladies of years past who would ask your destination, close the elevator door manually, use an "old fashioned" hand actuator to control the elevator and have you sit on a bench until you arrived at your floor.

It was beyond any experience in a hotel I'd ever had and I was enchanted!

From the moment you arrive, you feel like a 'king'. well decorated, very friendly staff, extremely clean. Loved the chairs inside the elevators.

47 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for business

I have visited the Drake several times for meetings but had never stayed until recently. The lobby is gorgeous but the seriously worn out carpet is in serious need of replacement. The flowers are magnificent but unfortunately this time they had a variety of flower that I am allergic to - Stargazer lilies. Based on the grand lobby, I assumed that the rooms would be equally grand. My room was supposed to be one of the nicer rooms. Well it was not. It was a very small room - and not a suite as I had expected. It was next to the elevator so it was very noisy. There was a door into my room that opened on the other side - and it left me uncomfortable as to who could have access into my room. The bed was pretty miserable, and if you wanted a top sheet, you had to request it! There was an iron and ironing board - but you had to crawl behind the bed or desk to find an outlet. I finally just took the ironing board into the bathroom. The entire room had a dank smell to it. The chairs were threadbare. The room service was greatly overpriced but thankfully the food was fairly good. I had been looking forward to staying in this "grand old hotel" but was greatly disappointed by the experience. I have had better accommodations at hotels costing 1/5th or less than what I paid for this wreck. It is a shame - this structure is so beautiful and if it were properly updated and maintained, it could be something spectacular. As it is now, it is not. I would recommend looking for another hotel if you are in Chicago.
