The capital hotel was borne of an idea of what the greatest sort of luxury hotel could be in the late 1800s. Sporting-of all things-an elevator large enough to bear a guest and his horse upstairs- a state-of-the-art communications system -the magnetic annunciator- and proudly displaying the first electric light fixture to be found in a hotel in the south- a local matron declared the hotel a capital enterprise located in a capital building. The name stuck. The capital was a beacon to southern culture in its day and over the decades was continuously reinvented to characterize the very best of the south for each time. Today is no different. A family of third-generation arkansans has lovingly renovated and refreshed this grand lady- and our management and staff are devoted to bringing a new capital idea to guests. Having recruited renowned chefs and expert hoteliers- the capital today revisits southern hospitality and serves as the launching pad for a new interpretation of southern foodways- created and called by executive chef lee richardson- new americana cuisine. One can say its the latest of the capital ideasthat have animated the hotel since it arrived on the scene in antebellum little rock. Today the capital hotel is the front porch of little rock the portal to a rich and rewarding experience of the best of the region and the authentic welcome that warms the south. We are committed to bringing new ideas to old favorites- to providing relevant and meaningful tastes- sounds and textures to our guests-so that each leaves our door touched by something real that can only be found right here. male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
Historically, The Capital Hotel "was" our first choice for overnight accommodations in Little Rock. Always a first class experience. Recently that changed. On May 14, 15 and 16 we were staying three nights while in LR for our son's graduation. There

41 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
I could not believe the helpfulness of the entire staff. I had a couple of problems during my stay (no fault of the hotel or the staff) and they went out of their way to solve them.
I stayed at the capital for my first honeymoon night before flying out to Jamaica and had a great experience. Hotels in the same class, but newer just can't compete with the high ceilings, king bed sized elevator, marble floors, etc. because...
This beautiful, historic building is deifinitely not the modern, amenity-filled hotel many travelers have come to expect. But that's not the point here. Some rooms are slightly small, all are tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean and the...

Horrible
My husband and I booked one of the suites at the Capital Hotel for our honeymoon night. The suites are all located over the Hotel's reception/ball room area. It was not very pleasant or romantic to hear the Rock and Roll band underneath us...
