We stayed at the Boulders, in Carefree, Arizona and had a wonderful experience. My wife loved the golf course, the kids enjoyed the pool as well as the abundant wildlife they encountered. I got myself pampered at The Golden Door Spa and also took...
I visited the Boulders for a 2 night weekend stay in August 2007. I stayed in a Casitas Suite which was beautiful and huge! The bed was so big and fluffy with a view looking out at the red rocks! The sitting area, although in the same room as the bed, offered a private area to watch movies, read and enjoy breakfast. The bathroom was amazing! There is a separate shower, a separate deep soaking tub and a separate toilet. The double sink vanity is huge. And, there is a private vanity with makeup mirror to apply makeup. The walk in closet with built-ins was great. It also was a nice changing area. I ate dinner 2 nights at The Latilla restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed both meals! The Chef prepared a wonderful menu of well executed dishes that would delight any "foodie"! The Golden Door Spa was such a wonderful Spa. The amenities and staff at the Golden Door were amazing! I had 3 treatments spaced over the 2 days and spent the entire day just hanging out relaxing enjoying the outdoor pool looking up at the beautiful red rocks! At the time I stayed, the concierge was less than helpful ... so, do your homework prior to your stay to see what is available at the resort and close by! The El Pedegral (on the property) is fun for shopping and dining. Also, just north of the Boulders (a short five minute drive) is a little town called Cave Creek which is small and quaint. I highly, highly recommend going to Binkley's in Cave Creek for dinner! Don't be fooled by the exterior of the restaurant because once you walk inside, you're in for a culinary treat! The entire staff is warm and friendly yet at the same time they are very professional and treat all their customers with the utmost respect. The Chef ... Kevin Binkley ... prepares the most amazing, innovative and delicious dishes I have ever tasted! I guarantee you will enjoy Binkley's just as much as I did!!!
Valet parking at resort wrecked a ladies bmw who was there to go to spa. Resort refuses to pay full damages to the car. The situation was even aired on a bit called "Three On Your Side" here in Phoenix!!
