The newest haunt among snowboarders, THE BLOCK at Big Bear features an environment that suits the casual lifestyles of snowboarders world wide. Having just opened their doors on July 1, 2005 THE BLOCK is a tribute to the conceptual prowess of snowboarding pioneer Marc Frank Montoya and Las Vegas hotelier Liko S. Smith. I stayed here once when I went snowboarding with my friends and we all loved it! They have a ps2 in the room so you can rent DVDs from the lobby for free and watch them. I believe that they also give you free popcorn and redbulls! There was also a...

Wouldn't really know where to start. First, I will never go back here, or recommend any of my friends to ever stay at The Block. Just a few things . . . blood on the comforters, no red bull as is one of the selling points, no toilet paper, very few towels, very very dirty, holes in the wall, ants crawling around, photos on the website make it to seem a nice place - not so much, no bbq as advertised, never would answer front desk phone. We spoke with the manager, but he was not in the least bit concerned to meet any of our needs. I guess they seem to think they can get away with such terrible service, but again, I will never go back to such a terrible hotel. Oh and the price - $200 for the nights. Such a waste . . .

Excellent
Although this is not a family-friendly hotel (which can easily be gathered if you look at the website) it is the BEST place in Big Bear if you're into a laid back, party type environment. The rooms are awesome and stocked with tons of stuff to keep...

I work in the Hotel Industry and i have to say this was the WORSE property i have every stayed at. It looked good online but i have to share my personal experience. I rented out 4 rooms for this past Oktoberfest and to celebrate my best friends birthday. When we got to the Hotel, none of our rooms had any Toilet Paper. I had to purchase my own TP from the local store because housekeeping didn't have any to provide. Also, all those free extras they offered for free like "Free Beer, Free Water, Popcorn, Cup of Noodles... they didn't have any to give out when i stayed. And if you wanted to buy a soda from the vending machine, of course the machine was not working. The beds were hard and the pillows were flat. I would compare this property to a Motel 6 but with a Big Screen. And here is the worse thing i experienced off all. There was an individual who we assumed worked at the Hotel because everyone knew him that worked there plus he was wearing the hotels black logo'd T-shirt. This person we assume was high or drunk because of his actions, but as we where about to leave to go drinking in town, this person stops our Taxi and asked if we believe in Jesus. Once the taxi driver warned him to leave, he punches the Window... Long story short, the cops show up and after the guy doesn't comply with police, he gets Tazzered. I complained to Management about the whole thing the next day, do you think i received a call back. Do you think anyone asked how i was? No. The Front desk guy was the only person who i honestly thought cared about my ordeal. I even wrote to the CEO and to their Partners at Rouge Hospitality. They never as so much as read my email. So anyone looking to stay at this hotel. I hope you have better luck then I did.

Definitely caters to young people who don't care where they stay. From the rap music blaring outside 24/7 to the gross stained carpet in the room where you didn't dare take your shoes off, everything was sub standard from the start. The beds were so worn you rolled off the edge or slept in a pit in the middle (it truly looked as though 500lb people had slept on these. The bathroom walls had been patched many times with blue tape to attempt to patch the holes created by party goers before us. The balcony railing out in front of our room was so damaged I almost fell off the second floor when I leaned against it. I can say that the staff was extremely nice and accommodating letting us out of our contract to stay with them.
