25 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for business

The lobby is nice but it is deceiving. The walk from the parking deck (which costs $15 a night) is not pleasant, it is an OLD building with lots of pink carpet. You get to the lobby finally and can hardly find the 2 elevators, or the stairs. With 10+ floors you need more than 2 elevators, especially when there is a HUGE conference there occupting most of the floors. When you get off the elevator on your floor there is no watfinding signs to tell you which way your room is so you have to walk around with all your belongings to find your room. The stairs are not labeled on most floors. There are about 8 doors on each floor that aren't labeled, most of which are storage rooms or janitors closets. The other stair has no first floor access, which is also not labeled. Good luck getting out of this building if there is a fire!! The rooms are okay with modern large striped carpet and wallcovering. The colors make you feel like you are in the 70's. The bed is not comfortable. Then you go into the bathroom and they decided to leave the 1970's laminate countertops and sinks. The tile on the floor and walls are old, white, and stained and the bathtubs do not seem clean. Also, the shower curtain looks like it was drug through the mud and was cut uneven at the bottom like it was recycled from somewhere. I felt the need to wear shower shoes. I didn't have a problem with noise outside my room but a co-worker did, she was on the elevator lobby. Overall, I was not pleased at all. Was glad to get out of there and get home.

The location was close to the venue we were playing. The staff was very helpful to all our needs.

44 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for business

The lobby has been renovated and looks nice, but the hotel rooms, halls and elevators are all old and need to be updated. When I got to my room and turned on the water, brown rusty water came out. I knew the hotel was undergoing renovations, so I let the water run. The times I used the water that evening, it always started out brown and rusty, but would clear up after a few minutes. Not a huge deal. The next day, however, when I went to take a shower, I discovered I had NO HOT WATER! I took a cold shower, got dressed and went down to the lobby to check out. When I told the desk clerk about the water, he told me it was MY FAULT that I didn't have hot water. He stated that I should have called the front desk and then let the water run for a half hour, if I wanted to have hot water. Don't they realize all of North Carolina is in a severe drought??!?!? Not a good experience. I will NEVER stay there again.

50 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for business

We read some bad reviews of this hotel after we booked so were a little leary. I found the place clean and quiet at night and the staff was great. Loved the retro decor. A few faults, but even the top of the line that I have stayed in had faults. Breakfast there was good and the waitress was so sweet. All and all a very nice place to stay at a great rate for downtown Charlotte. Booked off of hotline. Would definitely stay there again.
