The hotel room was very, very small; just a bed and a bathroom! I also could not sleep, the halway was very loud in the morning hours. The location was great though, close to shopping and food :) The window in the room opened all the way which i...

Excellent
I stayed here alone in Sept. 2008. Location is excellent just 1 block from the China Town Gates. Just a short walk from the Hyatt (2 blocks) where you pay 3 times as much. Another hotel that is more expensive is just across the street. Note: the...

Location was great. Close to everything and easy to get to.No A.C. in the rooms. This hotel is positioned in terms of location very well for travelers with any purpose. It was very noisy every night as each one seems to be emptied by more than one...

Location and price.Noise level. This hotel is perfect on a budget. It's very close to Chinatown and just a block over from several bus lines that will get you everywhere a tourist needs to go. The hotel lacks AC, which is fine except to open the...
39 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I was so happy to find this hotel for a reasonable rate and great location. At first I was skeptical, but my cousin lives in the city so he checked it out for me after I made the reservation. The location was perfect, and the hotel was clean and adequate. No frills, but it left money to spend on other things in the city. Great Value. We didn't have a car, public transportation is great and easy to get around, so no hassles with expensive parking (which is a problem in any big city!). No HVAC but we the windows open and it cooled off no problems, just a bit of street noise since we were on the front (on Grant street). Pillows were lousy(even the replacement we requested), but we simply bought some cheap ones when walking by a discount store ($5 at Ross).
34 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
This place is a real hastle. If you have a large vehicle, forget it! The staff is clueless, the rooms are smaller than a broom closet, and there is no HVAC. Stay in Daly city for half the price, it is only 10 minutes from Downtown San Fran, and parking is not $28 per night, for a small car! Forget a large car, I had top go to a motel because it was cheaper to pay for a room than it was to pay for $150 per night to park my truck.

Excellent
My husband and I stayed at the Baldwin Hotel for 6 nights, and it was an excellent stay. The bathroom was very nice, and provided shampoo, conditioner, body soap and facial soap. We requested an extra pillow and it was at our door within minutes!...

Horrible
The room was barely comfortable. The worst part was that the hotel is located on a garbage truck route. At 4 to 5 am every morning the trucks would roll down the street picking up the trash from the commercial buildings in the area. The trucks...

I was pleasantly surprised to see how neat and clean this older hotel was! Even the paint seemed new and the tile grout was sparkling! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the neighborhood felt fine for a single female to be in. It was...
