male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
Pros: Location
Cons: Dirty room, unaccommodating staff, tv remote and hair dryer stolen, slow elevators (maybe you'll get lucky and can ride the freight elevators), rude valet, overall poor service. I would NOT recommend staying here -- we tried somewhere new to see what was out there but were sorely dissapointed and will not be returning.
35 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I had arrived in Chicago very early on a Friday morning and dropped off my luggage with the bell service. I knew that I wouldn't be able to get a room right away, but the front desk attendant that morning called me on my cell as soon as a room became available. I thought to myself, "what a great gesture?"
Unfortunately, the front desk attendant who helped me check-in that morning was not the same attendant during my stay on Saturday and Sunday and I didn't receive the same courtesy from the other attendants. The weekend front desk attendants weren't very pleasant, weren't helpful, and when I asked to speak to a manager regarding a concern that they couldn't help me with, I was told the manager was on break but would call the room once they returned. The manager never called. I even left my cellphone number and they didn't bother to call that either. I wish the lovely woman who helped me Friday morning, worked on the weekends, because I have a feeling I wouldn't be writing this negative review. I chose The Allerton Hotel because it has a great location, but I now know why bother with a great location if the front desk attendants aren't pleasant. I would not recommend staying at this hotel if you have any questions or concerns during your stay.

Good
The hotel was nice. Only be aware of unexpected "extras" like paying $51/night to park and $10/day for internet access. The elevators were also extremely small. But it was a very nice hotel overall, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

We got to the hotel rather late in the day, around 9:00pm. We did have to circle the hotel a couple times to find the valet parking, but once we pulled in, they were very helpful. The hotel desk was on the second floor and not clearly marked, so...

We spent four days in Chicago between Christmas and New Years at the Allerton Hotel. While our room was rather small and right in front of the elevator, we can't complain given the great deal we got. We were originally unhappy that there was no...

NIce hotel and friendly people, but lots of street noise. Clean...no bed bugs that I could see...unlike one traveler last summer. My only complaint is being charged $$$ for parking when I had no car. I arrived and departed via airport shuttle....

We booked through an online travel website but when we got to the hotel, the king room we reserved was not available, so they had us stay in a queen. Half of the elevators were broken, so people were cramming in them like cattle. Our remote to the ...
