"Tesoro" I am told means "treasure" in Spanish.
This "treasure"is best left hidden for Capt.Jack Sparrow's pirates to find. Here's why:
1-We slept little(no,not because of the "fun" my spouse and I had, but because the room walls being paper-thin(we found out the daily mating habits of our next door guests) and the lobby bar playing VERY LOUD music until past 1 a.m. which can be heard throughout the whole hotel)
2-Drank lots of booze without a hangover..which sound great until you realize that ALL drinks are watered down...even beer is served from a pitcher kept in a fridge)
3-Has a great weight loss program: they ran out of food in the evening buffet TWICE...and had to go out for dinner (not cool for an "all inclusive")Food was OK in the restaurant but not the buffet.
4-Rooms are in dire need for maintenance, so if you are a handyman, you are in for a treat: broken telephone and TV remote control(which by the way you have to pick-up at the front desk and sign for it) broken fixtures and semi-burned through lamp coverings, broken balcony doors that do not seal well , moldy shower walls and curtains, etc.
Bob Vila...HELP!
5-We have two toddlers: this is our advice
DO NOT BRING KIDS to this place...it is the most kids-unfriendly/unsafe hotel we've been to. Low balcony railings with big gaps, very high bathtubs (easy to trip when coming out of it), no kids friendly menu, etc.
Ixtapa's beaches are beautiful but the waves are scary and deceiving. That is not the hotels' fault but it adds one more "check" mark against it.
Stay out of Tesoro...it's for the pirates.
