If you want to see what a Ritz stay was like before it moved to its present semi-modern digs, stay at the Taj. I found all the quiet elegance of old Boston. It all looked so familiar, then it dawned on me... this IS the old Ritz. The rooms and the service had improved, if that's possible. The bar facing Arlington Street and the Public Gardens had more charm than I expected. I stumbled on elegance and found deja vu... improved! Try it.
Can't beat the location. Ask for a room overlooking Boston Garden - nice view. It's near Newbury Street - lots of restaurants and shopping. On the expensive side but sometimes you can get a deal.
the Taj in boston is right on boston common, the huge park in the middle of the city, and also near newbury st shopping. makes for beautiful views and convenience.

Plush furnishings and art on the walls lend an air of elegance to this Boston landmark, but not so overwhelmingly that you feel you have to wear kid gloves when you stay here. Standing at one end of Newbury Street, Boston's answer to 5th Avenue, and on the corner of the Public Garden, this hotel is really in the center of everything. Close to shopping, dining, historical points of interest, and even great theater. T stops only steps away. Tons of amenities (what's a bath butler??) and friendly, helpful staff.
pros: Location, comfort,Service,Spent a night at the TAJ recently. Couldn't have had a better experience. The room was large (400 sq feet commonwealth king room) the staff was attentive, courteous, friendly and talkative. Bed was very comfortable,...

Horrible
pros: None.My girlfriend who was staying with me at the Taj put it best--"A marble bathroom and Molton Brown products does not make a 4-star hotel." On the whole, I found my recent experience at the Taj to be incredibly disappointing. The room we...

The location is superb, it is the old Ritz, a venerable Boston institution. The room was comfortable, although the bath was somewhat small. The bath amenities were great. I was thrilled that the bar has the same level of service that the Ritz did. The dri
