Tahitian Inn Hotel Spa Motel

We booked a room overnight because I had an interview in Tampa the following day and we thought it looked great on the internet. Please don't let the internet pictures fool you like they did us! The front lobby is nice and the people were polite, but hardly friendly. We got checked in quickly and our reservation was correct. Then we headed to our room.

The door to our room had a 1" opening at the bottom between the door and the floor - that should have been our first clue. When we opened the door, there was a musty, dirty odor in the room, like it had been shut up wet for a while. We got rid of it only by turning on the air conditioning to high for an hour or so (we left to go to dinner elsewhere). The air conditioner, by the way, was an old window a/c unit that had been put into the wall - it was quite loud and did not work very well as far as keeping the room comfortable.

They advertise that they have a heated pool, however, when my husband went for a swim, he couldn't stand being in the pool for more than a couple of minutes due to the fact that it was ice cold. We did not try out the spa because we were only going to be there overnight, so I can't comment on it.

The bed was like sleeping on concrete - hard and lumpy. Neither me nor my husband slept well due to the hardness of the bed and the pillows that were flat and hard. The bathroom was spacious, but there was very little water pressure for the showers and the towels were scratchy. I do have to say, though, that there were plenty of towels and an extra blanket.

We had breakfast in the cafe the next morning. The food was passable (except for the burnt bacon), but the waitress was seen only to order, bring food and bring the check. And we had to wait quite a while for any of those things to happen. She never once checked on us or any of her other customers to refill drinks or see how anyone was doing - she vanished into thin air after taking our order.

As a result of all the problems, we will never return to the Tahitian Inn and would not recommend it to anyone. We did leave their comment card filled out with all the problems we found.

I have traveled to Tampa on business for years and had a friend recently recommend the Tahitian Inn. I am now recommending them to you. The outside entrances to the rooms were nice for privacy sake. The pool area was my favorite. After a stressful meeting I came back and lounged in the oversized hammocks. I will stay here on my next trip.

I was a little hesitant to book at the Tahitian Inn due to a horrible review. After checking around I found wonderful reviews and decided to take a chance. Boy was I glad I did!! I definately lost the feeling of staying in "Busy Tampa" as soon as I walked into the front door. The customer service at the front desk was wonderful...down to the specific directions on how to get to the beaches and at which time was the best to go. Check in was a breeze as well as check out, No waiting!! Our room was large and clean and I slept like a baby. After our hot day at the beach I decided to top it off with a trip to the spa. They were able to fit me in last minute for a massage and facial. Best trip I have had in a long time. The brocure and web says that they offer relaxation...thats a definate. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!

I have never completed a review of a hotel, but after our recent visit to the Tahitian Inn and Spa I felt more compelled than ever to write one.

We stayed at the "motel" for 1 night. The room itself was sub par. The room smelled, the shower curtain had mold on it and the carpet wasn't safe to walk on with your bare feet. Please don't fall for the bogus pictures the inn shows. The pictures are of the spa portion of the "motel". I arranged for my girlfriend to get a facial and a massage from the Spa. It was a big mistake. I'm warning you all, don't use the Spa. My girlfriend ended up bleeding for two days because of the facial. I wish I would not have pre-paid for the $140 treatment, because the manager wasn't helpful at all in fact she didn't care. It took them 5 days to call use because apparently she has her own hours. When someone called it wasn't even the manager.

I tried to get a refund for the awful facial my girlfriend received, but was told, "They don't believe in refunds". Then they proceeded to tell me it was her fault she had a reaction to the oils and lotions and they did nothing wrong. Not sure, but the last time I checked your face doesn't bleed for two days because of oils and lotions. Maybe that's and indication of the type of products they are using. The individual that called said we should have said something that day. Well we did call (twice) and were told to talk to the manager, who of course sets her own hours and was unavailable and in fact is still unavailable. Just so you understand how awful this experience was, I have submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

In summation, if you're looking to have an awful weekend, then stay at this hotel.
