The first indication of a problem was when it became necessary to call the hotel prior to our arrival. Try as we might - we were unable to understand the female employee who answered the phone due to her poor English. The male employee who took care of our check-in was very polite and courteous, (possibly the live-in manager), although the process was somewhat of a circus due to the presence of two children "assisting" with the process - each having their assigned tasks. The smoking room we had requested reeked of stale cigarette smoke with absolutely no attempt made to deodorize the room. The room was very sparsely furnished, even lacking any kind of lamp on the desk/work area and the bathroom was very dimly lit. Maybe we've come to expect a little too much but there wasn't a microwave or a refrigerator in the room either. Upon check-out, we encountered the female employee with very poor English, (possibly the manager's wife), and we were unable to even communicate with her as we could not understand her and she could not understand us. The Internet connection at the hotel was very good though.

The desk clerk was surly and never seen again-the room was natty and very outdated looking; one bed was used and had hair and stains on the sheets; pillows and sheets wrinkled; sheets too small and did not cover the mattresses; the coffee pot was left with a former residents grounds in it; I thought expensive as the Holiday Inn at same location was $10 cheaper and it was so very nice and clean -- I e-mailed the corporate office and didn't even receive a response to my complaints -- this motel was very nice in the past as we go through here at least once a year and had stayed here before--never again!!

It had good service and a clean room. It has a helpful front desk.

There was a very polite person on duty at the front desk.
