In particular, the lobby area was gloomy, the clerk very difficult to communicate with behind a security shield. Breakfast was a joke--bad coffee, tiny muffins, sometimes juice but often none and nowhere but the guestroom to eat breakfast, probably just as well since the serving room was not altogether clean. We were there for 7 nights, ate breakfast out all 7 mornings, received no smiles or greetings in our comings and goings. Not a pleasant place to stay in spite of a very pleasant and well appointed guestroom.
The rate was good. The room was more than comfortable, even attractive. The bed was good. But the dingy halls, the unkempt common areas, the caged desk clerk who could not or would not quite communicate clearly were definite put offs. And the breakfast did not exist. There was a coffee machine, a juice dispensing machine and tiny muffins in a small, very small room not far from the clerk's cage with NO seating. What passes for a "lobby," dark area of couches, no tables was nearby, but guests clearly were expected to take their "breakfast" to their rooms. Note I said they had "a juice dispensing machine," but it was empty on 5 of our 7 mornings here. And, no, we did not get up at noon, more like 8:00. No attendant in the area either. We went out to breakfast each morning of our stay, more than off-setting savings of the Super 8's low rates.
