Great Place To Stay

53 year old female with a moderate budget
I travel to Eugene/Springfield, OR several times a year and I always stay at the Super 8 at Gateway. Maybe I am just lucky, but I have always had a clean room that is quiet and comfortable. I make my reservations on Super 8's website and my room has always been ready and waiting for me. Super 8 has called me on many occasions, when my flight was late, to make certain I was still planning on coming in for the night (or more). So, use your own judgement. I will be staying there again in 2 months. Perhaps we aren't talking about the same Super 8?

Reasonable price, clean and efficient

We have stayed at this motel twice recently, I'd stay there again. The beds were clean and comfortable, it was quiet, there were several restaurants within walking distance. The nearby restaurants were a good thing, because the 'continental breakfast' was the skimpiest 'breakfast' of any place I've stayed.
A plus--The shower heads are good quality!

The pool was nice, especially since the weather was quite warm. The hotel had a great location near a mall, restaurants and I-5, but somewhat in the industrial area. It was a good value for the price.

My husband's family lives in Springfield, Oregon so we stay in this town quite often. I will not stay at the Super 8 Motel again, as twice I have made online reservations using a credit card just to arrive there late at night and have no room reserved for me.
Both times the staff claimed they didn't know what happened. Once they even gave us a key to a room that was being used by another family, we actually opened the door while the people were present. What would happen if they gave someone your key and you were robbed or worse! On both occasions we were stuck without a room, and once I was so mad I even drove all the way back home to Seattle as there were no rooms available anywhere at that hour.
When I contacted the main Super 8 franchise, they just said sorry and left it at that. The place seems to be okay if you walk in and reserve a room though. I'd say the place was average in quality, etc. I have used many other Super 8 Motels on my many road trips with no problems at all. I would just stay away from this particular location. Consider yourself warned!
