The last time I stayed here it was fairly nice for an overnight, but it is under new ownership and is being remodeled. Only half of the rooms are available as of 3/7/08.
I checked in on an extended stay/weekly basis. The desk people were nice and did their best to find me the type of room I needed for me and my cat. The room is furnished with the following items: Full-sized bed, 3-drawer chest of drawers, desk & chair, nightstand, TV with cable, Phone, Microwave & mini-refrigerator, ironing board & iron, wall mounted blowdryer, alarm clock, wall-mounted clothing rack, luggage stand. The remote control for the TV didn't work.
I checked-in in a hurry, and didn't inspect the room before I returned later in the evening. However, on initial inspection, the room was dusty and the carpet was dirty. Before I left for a business appointment, I went to the office and asked them to re-clean my room. They had re-stuccoed the walls, and there were stucco splatters everywhere...on the carpet and the furniture...as well as lots of dust. They DID reclean the room, but not very well, and the mirrors were still filthy. The carpeting was in bad shape, and there was a big badly patched area right in the middle of the floor...as well as bad snags that stood up in the carpet. The lamp shades were stained also. The woodwork trim and the furniture were not only stucco spotted, but were dinged, dirty, and dingy. The curtains were stucco splattered and had a big cigarette burn, and the bedspread was worn and also had cigarette burns in several places on it.
Since I was going to be using the room to meet some of my clients, I decided that the accomodations were unacceptable. I noticed that the room next door to me was in much better shape, so I went to the office to request to be moved into it (the curtain was open and I could see in). When I inquired about the room next door, they told me it was a nightly room only, and that I would have to pay full price per day for it...which was $387, $101 more than what I paid for the room I had. They were not willing to give me a reasonable price to compensate for the awful room they gave me. I had taken a ground floor room because I had several belongings to bring in with me, and they don't have elevators to the higher floors...only stairs. They said they could give me a second floor room, or I would have to wait until the next day to see what came available. I couldn't do that because I had business appointments the next day.
I spoke to the manager, and was very calm and reasonable...considering the circumstances. But the manager wasn't willing to give me the next door room either, and instead of trying to understand my dilemna, told me I could check out and go elsewhere if I wished, or take a second floor room. He told me that other people had been staying there before me, and he couldn't understand why the room was unacceptable. He lost his patience with me while I tried to explain that the room was not clean enough, and was too tattered for me to bring clients there. He wound up leaving and left the night clerk to deal with me.
Since I was on a time crunch, and it was after 10 PM, I wound up keeping the room and cleaning it myself. I had to use stain remover to clean the lamp shades and curtains. I had to scrape off stucco from the carpet and furniture. I had to redust and re-vacume, wipe down the woodwork, clip the snags and frays in the carpets with scissors, cover areas of the carpet with my own throw rugs, replace the bedspread with one of my own, and clean the mirrors and furniture in order to make the room acceptable for my upscale clients to come in for consultations. In the first 3 days, the room service people only came once, and the gal didn't speak English enough to even understand that I didn't need service because I took care of it myself. I just had to keep say "No, No service" until she finally caught on to what I meant.
Maybe when they get the remodeling done it will be better, but I know that I will never come back here again, and I definitely won't recomend it to anyone else because of the price for what I got and the way I was treated when I tried to nicely and calmly complain about it.
There was a dining area off the lobby that looked fairly nice, but no one ever told me whether or not they offered and coffee, etc in the mornings. It was wintertime, so I don't know about the pool area. I think there is a laundry and vending area, but no one ever told me about it...I'll have to go inquire to find out. There is free wi-fi internet service with the room cost, which worked fine.
It may be OK for a cheap place to stay for one night, but NOT on an extended stay basis. They obviously don't treat their long-term people as well as their short-term guests.
