Super 8 Motel Dodge City Motel - Page 1

I made my reservation weeks ahead and asked for the special outside handicapped room but it was taken. The gal said there were no stairs in the first floor so we booked the room. We had a business meeting set for 7:30 a.m. the next morning and never got any sleep. They placed us in room 101 which was "down a flight of stairs" and directly under their business office. Things were being dropped all night, pacing was going on all night, the street noice was brutal being right on a highway and our room about 50 steps from the curb. When checking in I had held the room with a credit card and had been quoted a price over the phone. I told them not to run the card and that I could either pay for the two nights in cash at that time but they said I could pay when I checked out. We called the front desk at 10:30 pm to ask why/what was the noise. The office above us was getting a new tiled floor and they only had someone hired to put the tiling in at night. We said we were not happy but they had no room to give us that my handicapped husband could walk more steps to. The office personnel are all ignorant. We decided that we would take our chances finding another motel after the meetings that next day and I paid CASH for the one night and checked out. I did state that since we had last stayed there it had gone downhill, was needing remodeling and that we had been told there were no stair to our room. I also complained about the hammering going on above us and the noise being made all night by the office person and got a shrug from the check out gal. I went to use my credit card again two days later and found that the Super 8 had a pending charge of $151 still on it so I called the Super 8. The girl said to call their manager the next day. I talked to an Anna and she was rude. She told me to call my credit card company. I have the receipt in front of me and have called our credit card company but they can't do much until Super 8 let's go of the charge. Now I have a charge on my card that will take 90 days to get it fixed. Oh, by the way, when checking out I was given a different amount than what I booked the room for and asked why the big increase. They said that as of the day we checked in their rates went up. We go to Dodge City alot and some times have to stay over night but from now on we will never stay at the Super 8 or another Super 8 no matter what. We got more sleep the second night staying at a different, cheaper motel and were treated respectfully. Also someone is ripping the company off by putting out really old and spoiled items for the breakfast bar and our room smelled bad. The drapes were broke and we could not get them closed to block out the street lamps, the air conditioner was on the blitz and the TV was screwed up. What a let down. I wish that I could have got my money back but I will tell anyone that asks about our experience since we can not get any satisfaction from your Dodge City Super 8.

I like that they have the outside doors locked and you can only get in by using your room key.

It was the same as every other Super Eight. They could use more light in the rooms. An elevator was necessary. The staff was very good for this level of motel. The hotel employees seem to use pool more than the customers. This could be off-putting to some guests.
