Super 8 Motel Bakersfield Motel - Page 1

I just checked in for a possible long term stay since it was next to hwy access and fun bowling alley for kids. My son has became ill on his trip and I had to wash his clothes he was wearing along with the bottom cushion seat of the car seat, 1 towel and his beloved baby blanket he had since he was a infant and cherished from his grandma for 4 of his years. After I checked in I was happy to see the room I was in was right next to the 1 washer and dryer on the premisis which was unusually outdoors in a covered area. I put everything in the washer and shortly after went to the bowling alley to eat and play with the kids after a long day in the car, they needed some fun. About a hour and a half later I came back to the hotel right next door to return to the room and put his items in the dryer and well all of my boys things were missing!!! I thought who could do that? Some weirdo - I dont get it. My husband frantically looked everywhere asking anyone he could because he knew we would have a very red eyed unhappy boy who lost his comfy security blanket blue with boats. The office assisted to try and review video cameras but ironically this covered open hall right next to the office where the only washer and dryer on the premisis and the ice machine was had no security camera. Gee I would think the saftey and protection of the guests would be a first priority. This is a area that needs it. After many vain attempts and my cousin speaking to management who insinuated we were lying , I went into the office to state in fact we were not lying and made a list of all the items that my boy was missing, The clerk assured me she would keep reviewing security cameras and she would call me. That never happened.... But we did quickly pack and left disappointed. The good news was, I was happy to find Garden Suites down the street by the mall for just $52 a night including tax , its twice as large. 2 Tv's a Liv with a fold out couch and a huge King bed and a nice large bathroom, this is where I will be staying for the next month and all the rooms are inside and have wonderful protection and security coverage and the laundry is right by the front desk. It is a bit older with a few niches but the office was very fast and helpful anytime and it is so much more comfortable here with the kids. Jacuzzi and pool perfect. Sorry Super 8, you wont be ever earning my business again . I was staying in Las vegas for over a month before we arrived in bakersfield - It was at Siena Suites off Boulder Hwy with a huge hotel and left my laundry sometimes a while in laundry room that was closed, air conditioned and had security cameras. Not once in a month did I ever have 1 item missing, everyone was so honest and friendly there at that complex.

The location was fine, the bed was a bit hard service was ok. Our microwave did not work unless you held the plug in at an odd angle with the refrigerator unplugged. The self serve breakfast was free which was good but the choices of food were limited and they did not include protein. The main complaint though was that the heating in the pool and the hot tub that we were looking so forward to was not working so the water was just plain icy.

The refrigerator did not work. The check in computer did not work and it caused me a delay.

The desk clerk had a poor attitude and he was not very helpful. The breakfast was not of the quality I expect at a Super 8 motel, it was very skimpy, primarily a very cheap continental breakfast with coffee and sweet rolls. The room was not very clean. I would not recommend this particular motel if there is another choice close, but away from Bakersfield because of the stockyards.

My room was ok. The breakfast was bad.
