I recently had the extreme displeasure of staying at this Super 8. I have never, let me say this again, never stayed at a worse motel, literally. Let me highlight my stay.
1. Arrived on 3.26 and was checked into room 107. The hallway reeked of urine or, at the least a mildewed carpet.
2. Was not told that since I reserved a 6 night stay, that the room would only be serviced once during my stay. We arrived to our room after the 1st day to find that the room had not been serviced. My wife took our dirty towels to the front desk for exchange. The desk clerk told her to take them to laundry herself, which she refused to do. The clerk acted if he was insulted by this.
3. The room was dirty. The carpet was dirty, the bathroom was dirty (mildew on shower curtain and shower corners ) with dirt in the corners. The floor around and behind the furniture was extremely dirty and the A/C unit had old food particles and mold in it.
4. The furniture was ragged and shaky. The “desk” chair was ready to fall apart (loose at all joints) as it was very wobbly. The cushion was very worn. I had to put a pillow on the seat, and even then, I sank into the chair.
5. The “recliner” was very wobbly as well. I dared not actually try to recline it as I was afraid that it would collapse. It was very dirty and stained and I refused to sit in it.
6. The mattress was very worn so that it was somewhat “concave” in the center. Talk about “togetherness”.
7. The towels, washcloths, etc. were threadbare and stained. It, basically, gave us the “creeps” to use them. So were the sheets and pillow cases.
8. We checked out on the morning of the 29th, earlier than expected (not as early as we wanted). I was at my computer and saw a cockroach crawl from under the television. We couldn’t pack fast enough!
I called the Sleep Inn after the 1st nights stay, but couldn’t get in until Thursday (29th). Believe me, if we could have left earlier, we certainly would have. I was unaware of the Microtel in town or we would have moved earlier.
If this was the first Super 8 experience, I would never stay in another. I travel extensively and stay in many Super 8 Motels. Most are adequate, some are exceptional (Beech Grove, IN). This one is a rat hole and you would do well to separate your corporate name from this pariah.
I am a CLC (Corporate Lodging) member and seem to be treated as “second class” at many motels. Even then I am treated better than I was at this property. What a shame!
Just a note; the Sleep Inn is an exceptional CLC Motel and will get my business, exclusively, in the future. I have notified my office to take this Super 8 off of our “approved motel list”. I am, also, forwarding a copy of this letter to Corporate Lodging Consultants.
