25 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for business
We will never stay in Super 8 again and are telling all our friends and family to do the same. My husband and I stayed here over four nights as we were preparing for a move there to attend (me) and work as a professor (my husband) at the university. Since there were no irons in the room, my husband had to check one out from the front desk. The first time he did this with no problem. The second time he checked out the iron at 11:00 at night after finishing working on his notes for his meeting. Around 11:10 our phone rang, we did not answer. Then, a knock at our door. It was the front desk woman reminding my husband that he had to return the iron. We went down to the front desk to return it and question her why she felt it necessary to remind him to return the iron. Her response was, "well, you were acting weird, and I had a strange feeling, well I was pretty sure you were going to steal it." This is a good time to mention my husband is Black. After more question about how he was acting weird, she couldn't answer, saying she just felt that he was a person who would steal it. She did not apologize. Later I went back down to get her name and she threatened to kick us out, at 12:00 at night in Colorado, because we were paying a discounted AAA rate and she felt we should have been paying full rate. Plus we had walked up the stairs talking the previous night and she felt that showed we were bad people. The next day the manager's response was as follows, "No, she is a nice lady, I don't see that happening. She must have a reason. You can't use race." No apologies. This hotel condones racism, please do not stay here.
